"Right."
I answered. There's no way they would decline this opportunity, even Everhart might even consider marrying Killian now that this topic surfaced on this gazebo.
"Well…marrying an influential man would help tremendously in the company…"
Rosette spoke softly.
"It really will. Is Miss Ashbourne interested in taking my place?"
A flushed color popped out of Rosette's face. It really looked like she's interested in Killian, and not just interested in his position's influence—she's interested in him romantically too. Perfect. I'm guessing she's a woman who'd devote herself to Killian without any ulterior motives in mind.
"...I can give it a try-"
"Great!"
I yelled in excitement, cutting off Rosette's sentence.
"How about you Eloise?"
"I think I still need to ponder on this further."
"How about you Jade?"
Rosette asked in an excited manner.
"I'm not interested in marriage."
Everhart ceased any more bargaining from Rosette and continued to drink her tea leisurely. I expected her response. Why would an intelligent lady of a prominent family need a man?
Honestly, this is easier than I thought. To think that I just needed to come to a tea party without any invitation to acquire a scapegoat…
"But, how will this work? Do we just sign marriage contracts?"
Rosette suddenly asked, but before I could pull out an answer, Everhart answered.
"I don't think it's that easy. Killian Entrinia is the epitome of success in our generation, that man must be quite tricking to even get along with…"
Everhart casually commented. For once, I could actually feel that someone understands what I've been through. It wasn't just tricky to get Entrinia to agree on this deal—the entire process was pure sh*t.
"Well, he said that if I found someone that I think would suit him, I should bring that person to him so he can have a chance to get to know the person better. I think Miss Rosette is more than amazing to become Killian's wife, but I guess I need to proceed based on Killian's wishes. I hope you're okay with this…"
"It's completely fine. You're not the person I'm getting married to anyway," Rosette's statement was followed by a light chuckle. "Then…when do you think I can meet him?"
All fell silent except for the clinking sound the teacup made when the contents were being stirred by a spoon. I did not think this would go so well that I didn't remember if Killian fixed a date for this.
"I'll talk to him about this first and ask for a fixed date for the both of you to meet."
"...You'll be coming with me right? To…convince him?"
Rosette's eagerness and confidence portrayed was engulfed with worry and agitation in a second. This was the only son of Entrinia we're talking about, I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks that Rosette doesn't even meet half of his standards.
"Of course."
I replied with a smile on my face, my chin resting on top of the back of my hands.
"Well, I wish you both good luck."
Eloise chimed in while Jade only gave a thumbs up.
***
After crashing into their tea party uninvited, I set out into the road and left Eloise's estate. I'm not sure if Rosette and Jade have already departed too, but it doesn't matter if I leave first.
My plan made a slight turn, but it still worked either way—instead of having Eloise to marry Killian, I'm bringing Rosette in front of Killian instead. Rosette doesn't look that bad—she's beautiful, I think she's kind, and I feel sure that a lot of men have already requested her hand for marriage. If Killian rejects her, then he's blind.
The car was running at average speed and I was already a few kilometers away from the estate before I knew it, all was going well. But I couldn't help but be startled the moment I looked through the rear window glass of the car.
A f*cking car was following us!
I swear to god I saw that car parked at Eloise's mansion! Who knows if that car really belongs to her, but it could possibly be just the same model as that car, but…
"Let's go to Olivia's hometown first."
I ordered the driver and he made a turn without question. If the car behind us still follows us all the way to Olivia's hometown then I'll confirm that they really are following us, but it could be that they're house is also located at Olivia's hometown…Sh*t.
I feel like I'm just overthinking things.
A few hours have passed and we're almost arriving at Olivia's hometown. The car was sti behind us, running at a constant pace.
I have asked the driver to slow down, stop at random places and every time our car stopped, the car behind us would stop as well! Everytime our car would decrease its speed, the car behind us would slow down as well!
The car really was following us!
"W-were here, Miss Violet."
The driver announced, his face being enveloped in cold sweat.
I stepped out of the car in a flash and slammed the door shut, ordered the driver to stay put in his seat, and waited for the car that was following us to arrive.
I didn't have to stand there for an entire minute—the car was already there. Whoever the person is inside that car, they really did not bother hiding the fact that they were following me, it's either they had no shame, or really did not know how to stalk someone.
"I didn't think you'd be the type of person to follow a stranger around…"
I muttered with crossed arms.
A poised person stepped out of the car, her meadow green eyes sparking under the sun.
"I'm happy that the young lady Amaryllis thinks I'm a dignified person-"
"I didn't mention anything like that."
I quickly retorted with a blank and an unamused expression.
"Is young lady Amaryllis angry that I followed her all the way here without prior notice?''
"Who wouldn't be angry if a random black car follows them around?! I thought you were here to assassinate me!"
