Astrid remained engrossed in her work, tapping away on her computer as she edited and arranged files. Suddenly, a knock on her desk broke the silence.
She looked up to see none other than Miles standing before her, a warm smile spreading across her face. "Miles!" she exclaimed, excitement coloring her voice.
"Hey.." he replied
Astrid's smile faltered for a moment, "I miss you," she cooed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Miles's smile dissipated, replaced by a serious gaze. "I don't think you do," he said, his voice low and measured. "I didn't even receive a response to my message."
Astrid's brow furrowed in surprise. "Message?" she asked, her voice tinged with confusion.
Miles's eyes narrowed, and he clicked his tongue. "Give me your phone."
Astrid calmly handed over her phone, and only then did she notice the time. The office was deserted, except for the two of them. Night had fallen, casting a quiet gloom over the space.
