Astrid's tears flowed uncontrollably as she embraced her mother. "Mum... I missed you so much," she sobbed.
Elizabeth's weak voice filled Astrid's heart with joy. "I... missed you too, sweetie." she struggled to say, already gasping for air.
"B… but I fe… feel you would send me back if you don't let me go," she added.
Astrid released her mother instantly, and Miles quickly handed her a bottle of water. "Thanks," Astrid said.
As she helped her mother drink, Astrid's thoughts swirled. Her mother had been in a coma for months now because of her dad. Seeing her speaking again made her so delighted.
Just then, Dr. Lee and some other doctors entered the room, Miles had pressed the button to notify the doctors.
"Mrs. Logan, I will need you to step aside so we can examine her."
Astrid hesitated, reluctant to leave her mother's side. But Dr. Lee's gentle smile reassured her.
