Chapter 3 - The shadows within

That night, as they stood outside Maya's apartment, Hall's eyes locked onto hers. "I'll pick you up at 7 pm tomorrow," he said, his voice low and husky. His tall broad figure backed her gate.

Maya's heart skipped a beat. She didn't expect the statement, the closet she wanted to be with Hall is bussiness partners and nothing else but everyone take the guy as cold and vogue yet he seemed more warm than she thought

"Where are we going?"

Hall's smiled down at Maya , assuring and brief ,she barely reached his broad shoulders ,her height ended at his lower ribs."Somewhere special..."He smiled again but simple.

His sleepy dark blue eyes sparked in the night, she could see it and

butterflies bombarded her belly in a spectacular fashion.

He ruffled her hair before he entered his dark shiny BMW and drove off.She wanted to protest but something weighed her down."grrr..that's annoying"

As Maya entered her apartment, she couldn't shake the feeling that Hall's was hiding something. The way he just got attached to her all of a sudden, she couldn't just get it.Anyways she knew she was a kinda spec but for Hall it was a wild expectation. He barely dated or been so close to a lady ,a lot of chic's worship his presence yet still wonders if he was gay.He is one of the top richest in the country, every girls dream, hot, smart, everything she felt she was going too far and many would get heartbroken .

She decided to do some digging.

Meanwhile, Hall returned to his penthouse, his demon growling with impatience. He knew he had to keep Maya at arm's length, but his human heart yearned for her.He was still yet confused if his feelings for her were mere based on her beauty or real...

The next day at the office ,Maya was still pondering over Hall's statement, what was he up to?The gentle breeze slinked in through the blinds and a note fell of the table beside the office chair.Maya noticed it and picked it up only to find just one word Hall .

A ting hit her,she couldn't understand, how did the paper gets here?who left it? and what did it mean ?.

...

That same evening, Maya was preparing to spend the cool evening with her cat walking in the streets when Hall arrived at Maya's doorstep. She heard her door bell and decided to check out then she came faced to faced with Hall, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Ready for our adventure?" he asked.

Maya wanted to be hesitant but decided to let her curiosity elope her "yeah"she agreed.

As they drove through the city, the shadows seemed to deepen within as if darkness itself was following them.

The tyres rolled slowly against the rusted leaved covering the forest pathway.Maya was lost for a while,Hall acts kinda creepy, the adventure was turning something else.

They finally was an abandoned mansion on the outskirts of town. Hall led Maya inside, his eyes flashing with a hint of something otherworldly.

She found herself in a secluded clearing deep within the forest. Hall stood beside her, his eyes gleaming with an intense connection to the natural surroundings.

"What is this place?" Maya asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ryder's gaze swept across the clearing. "A sacred site, hidden from the world. Few have ever laid eyes on it."

She wondered how Hall got to know of it ,who is this guy?

Maya felt an inexplicable energy evaporating from the area"It's nice" she said, her feet carrying her toward the center of the clearing.

Hall followed, his footsteps silent on the forest floor. "This place holds ancient power," he said, his voice filled with reverence. "A connection to the heart of the earth."

"Are you a geographer?"she asked

Hall chuckled."lol, you funny..no I'm not "

"Oh!"

As they reached the center, Maya felt a sudden jolt, as if the forest was alive and pulsing through her veins. Hall eyes locked onto hers, and she saw a deep understanding there.

"Do you feel it?" he asked holding her arms in a tight grip, his voice barely audible.

Maya nodded, her heart racing. "What is it?"she whispered still locking eyes.

Hall smiled "The heartbeat of the forest. It's calling to us, Maya."

Without another word, Ryder took Maya's hand, and they frozed there, united in their connection to the land. The trees seemed to lean in, as if witnessing a sacred moment.

In that instant, Maya knew she was meant to be here, with Ryder, in this paranormal place.
