"Rat-tat-tat…"
After a burst of wild firing into the darkness, Sam quickly retreated.
"Let's go!"
Without looking back, he dashed towards the car. Logan and Victor followed closely behind.
At that moment, a red tongue suddenly appeared, lashing towards Logan.
Logan reacted swiftly, slicing through the tongue with the claws on his fists.
"Splat…"
The severed tongue fell to the ground, still writhing.
"Roar…"
A monstrous growl echoed from not far away.
Logan sneered disdainfully.
It seemed that the monster was only terrifying in appearance; its actual combat abilities were nothing special.
Then, several more monsters appeared, lunging at them.
Seeing this, Sam immediately aimed his rifle at the monsters' heads and fired.
"Rat-tat-tat…"
Though the Lickers looked fearsome, they had a glaring weakness—their exposed heads.
After taking more than a dozen shots to the brain, the creature fell silent. Logan wasn't to be outdone. He charged at one of the monsters, slashing with his metal claws.
"Slash… Rip…"
The creature's limbs were like tofu in front of Logan's adamantium claws, severed instantly along with its head.
Victor grabbed a Licker that lunged at him, tearing it in half with brute strength and throwing the remains far away.
While Lickers were lethal to ordinary humans, they were no match for these superhuman opponents.
However, the Lickers had numbers on their side.
Soon, one of them took advantage of Victor's momentary distraction, tearing a chunk of flesh from him before fleeing. Victor, in turn, left a deep gash on its body.
......
In the shadows not far away, a man dressed in a black trench coat and sunglasses coldly watched Sam and the others make their way toward the car. The Lickers either lay dead or limbless in their wake.
"A bunch of ants."
While Lickers were formidable, possessing four or five times the strength and speed of an average human, their weakness was obvious—their defense was nonexistent.
You could tell just by looking at their exposed flesh.
At that moment, a voice came through his earpiece, "Captain William, the targets are heading for the car."
"Roger that. Omicron team, watch your captain put on a show."
With that, he ripped off his earpiece, and his body began to swell, instantly shredding his clothes.
"Roar!"
With a deafening roar, his body bulged with black muscles, claws extended from his hands, and his height reached over three meters.
In the blink of an eye, he leaped a hundred meters, landing directly on top of the car.
"Boom…"
The car crumpled beneath his weight, exploding.
Sam, Logan, and Victor, just five meters from the car, stopped in their tracks, staring in disbelief at the massive creature before them.
"Oh, shit! What kind of monster is this?"
"Logan, looks like we're in for a bad time."
"No, my wings!"
William relished the look of despair in his enemies' eyes, but he knew he had to end this quickly. Without hesitation, he lunged at them, sweeping his massive claws through the air.
Sam rolled to the side, dodging the attack.
Logan raised his claws to block but was sent flying.
Victor attempted to retaliate, only to be swatted away just as easily.
Seeing how easily he overpowered his opponents, William smiled, recalling the days when he was bullied by street thugs as a child.
Born to Mexican immigrants, his parents smuggled him into the United States, hoping for a better life. They thought life would improve in America, but it turned out to be just as dark as Mexico.
Without green cards, his parents could only take illegal jobs, often cheated out of their wages by unscrupulous employers.
In the end, his parents died in a tragic accident, leaving him an orphan, forced to scavenge and beg on the streets.
One day, while rummaging through a garbage can for food, he encountered a group of older homeless men.
For a half-eaten sandwich, they beat him mercilessly.
Just when he thought he would die, Adam appeared—the most important person in his life.
Adam gave him food, helped him grow, taught him everything he knew, and even provided him with a job, leading to the life he had today, where he no longer worried about food or shelter.
Later, Adam gave him the opportunity to inject the T-3 virus, granting him powers far beyond ordinary humans.
This overwhelming strength gave him a sense of security that became his obsession.
"Die!"
Meanwhile, Sam had rolled behind William, reloading his rifle and aiming at the back of William's head before pulling the trigger.
"Rat-tat-tat…"
The bullets pinged off William's skull, the pain jolting him back to reality.
This ant dared to shoot him? Fuck!
With that thought, William swept his claws behind him.
Sam, once again, nimbly dodged the blow, but small stones from the impact struck him, causing sharp pains.
"Hah!"
Logan, claws outstretched, leaped at William from behind, driving his adamantium claws into the creature's back.
"Splat…"
Victor followed, grabbing hold of William's arm, "Logan, I've got him! Do it now!"
Hearing this, Logan prepared to pull his claws free and strike a lethal blow. But after a few tugs, he realized something was wrong. He couldn't pull his claws out.
William's face twisted into a menacing grin.
"No, it's I who've got you."
With a sudden burst of strength, William broke free from Victor's grip and slashed across his chest.
"Rip…"
A massive wound appeared on Victor's chest and abdomen, blood gushing out like a torrent.
William then grabbed Logan's arms, yanked his claws out of his body, and dislocated his shoulder with a sickening crack.
However, thanks to Logan's adamantium skeleton, his bones remained intact despite the dislocation.
"Argh!"
Logan let out a low growl of pain, staggering back.
William frowned. What was with this guy's bones? Why were they so hard?
Just as William was about to finish off these two mutants, a voice called out from behind him.
"Duck!"
Logan and Victor immediately dropped to the ground.
A split second later, before William could react, he was hit by a portable rocket.
"Boom…"
"Run!"
Sam tossed aside the rocket launcher, and while William was still recovering, drove up in a car to pick up Logan and Victor, speeding away.
Back at the scene, the fire was quickly extinguished by the rain, revealing William's unharmed body. But instead of giving chase, he casually stood in place, his body shrinking back to its human form.
Several heavily armed Omicron team members wearing demon masks approached.
"Captain, looks like you took a hit."
"Wow, it's rare to see the captain getting hit by a rocket."
"Haha, captain, next time we'll make sure to avenge you."
William took the clothes handed to him by his subordinates, sneering, "If the boss hadn't told us to go easy on them, there's no way they would've escaped."
