Chapter 43 - Sunlight

The fight continued for another ten minutes. Gradually, the massive wave of ghouls began to thin out. In the end, Dylan's mana had been exhausted.

Orochi stared at the remaining three hundred or so ghouls ahead with indifference. "In the end, I didn't expect that I would be forced to use my trump card. Consider yourselves lucky. For you will face the mighty power of the Sun God."

Orochi's figure ascended further and reached a height where the ghouls couldn't even reach him. Then he looked at Dylan with approval. "For a mere mortal. You're quite qualified to fight alongside me. Now, flee! Go as far as you can. Everything within a hundred meters of me would be obliterated!"

As Orochi stated this, he raised his hand with his fingers pointed at the sky.

At this moment, Dylan had a bad premonition. He activated his Fly skill, had long finished its cooldown, and ran away as if his life depended on it. In just a few dozen seconds, Dylan covered a lot of the distance.

'He said everything within a hundred meters? Fuck it! I'll go another hundred!'

Dylan felt unsafe without allowance. After all, it's better to be safe than sorry, right?

Following that, Kenjaku appeared just five seconds later behind Dylan with a flushed face. Kenjaku had to use his mana just to boost his speed further.

Dylan couldn't help but touch his chin. 'This bastard's speed is only second to me. He's really a good assassin.'

Just six seconds more, Kevin and Hank also arrived. They looked at Orochi in the distance anxiously.

"What did the leader intend to do? I've never seen him use this kind of move before. Just what could it be? Kenjaku, do you have any idea?"

"Nah, I'm also clueless. I've been a bit ignorant of Orochi's affairs after that incident. Two years had already passed, yet he still can't forgive me."

"Are you nuts? Of course, it would be hard to fucking forgive you! You've betrayed us and left us there to die. If not for the Hobgoblin suddenly leaving. We won't be here talking."

Kenjaku shook his head in disappointment. 'Do these idiots really think I'll sacrifice myself just to accompany them to die? Who's rational enough to do such stupidity.' however, he couldn't obviously voice it out or the rift between them would grow larger.

With a sincere expression, Kenjaku sighed bitterly: "Do you think I intend to do that? I also didn't want that to happen! Yes, I'm not kind enough to stay. I run away yes! But you can't really blame me for wanting to leave!

Even though I did that. I know that it's wrong to abandon your subordinate. I apologize! I'm worse than a scum. I'll make up for it as long as you give me a chance again."

"It's not time for this." Kevin and Hank looked at each other for a moment. They could see that Kenjaku seemed really sincere with his words. But they didn't know how they should take it.

On the other side, Orochi saw his team outside of a hundred meters around him. A sinister expression finally appeared on his face. "Sunlight!"

The ghouls didn't know what to do. They tried to reach Orochi but he was floating in the air at least ten meters high.

In the sky, the clouds parted. It was supposed to be night. However, in the center, the sun emerged with unprecedented brilliance.

Dylan, Kenjaku, and two looked at the dazzling sun in astonishment.

"Huh? How come? So this captain's skill? He can what? Make the world receive sunlight?" Confusion filled Hank's face.

What can even sunlight do?

That's the question in their mind...

Suddenly, in the area within a hundred meters of Orochi. Everything was gradually shrouded with sunlight. The trees, water, every substance, and the ghouls began to decompose visibly inside the sunlight.

How fast is the speed of light? All the ghouls had been enveloped with sunlight. They decomposed to the sub-atomic level. There's not even scum left in their bodies.

Within a hundred meters, Orochi was the absolute center; everything had been eradicated. All forms of matter and substances had been subjected to the sunlight.

The ghouls didn't even manage to scream or run away because everything happened in the blink of an eye.

"W-what did just happen?" Hank opened his eyes forcefully. "M*therfucker! That sunlight is too dangerous!"

Now, Hank could finally understand why Orochi wanted them to run away. The attack was too exaggerated. Although 100 meters isn't considered that big. An area of attack with that kind of range and speed was an anomaly in itself. After all, who's supposed to outrun sunlight?

"The only way to escape against that kind of attack is teleportation or if you can make your body intangible."

"He's coming here. Fortunately, he isn't an enemy. It's quite scary to have that kind of enemy, right?" Dylan let out a small chuckle.

Everyone nodded in agreement. The strength Orochi showed had far exceeded their expectation.

Just like that, Orochi levitated near them with a weary expression. He didn't speak to the group and just closed his eyes in meditation.

Kevin looked at Orochi's state thoughtfully. 'Apparently, in just a few seconds of use. That kind of move drained his mana. It makes sense, such large coverage and exaggerated effect to decompose all things. Even the ground within a hundred meters turned to a deep gully.'

"Well, let's rest for a moment and decide whether to proceed or not... First, those piranhas, and now these ghouls. The danger of this place seems to exceed our capabilities."

Kenjaku removed the glasses on his face and struck it in half with his dagger.

In the battle just now, the lenses cracked. Then he took out another glass, blue framed and sphere-shaped lenses.

Hank and Kevin displayed a helpless expression. They were quite useless in the first two battles so they couldn't really refute.

"What do you think? Is it still possible to explore this place? What if a more dangerous situation than the ghouls appeared?"

Dylan frowned hearing their question. "That was unexpected even for me. Don't rely too much on the intelligence I have in this place. I only know a thing or two but not everything.

I'll throw the question back to you. Do you still want to continue despite the danger? Because I would go regardless of your decisions."
