It felt so stuffy.
I couldn't even see anything. Why is it all dark? Did the power go out?
"AACK!"
A young woman's voice screamed, dropping some sort of glass that shattered on the ground. "M-My lady! L-Lady Auriell has truly awoken!"
"Sorry?" I was shocked and confused. Moreover, I couldn't see anything!
"I'll get the doctor and his grace, one moment my lady!" The young voice yelled off in the distance. My lady? I tried to move, but my limbs felt heavy and unresponsive. Panic started to rise within me as I struggled to make sense of the situation. Who was Lady Auriell and why was I being referred to as "my lady"?
She didn't take too long. The said 'doctor' arrived minutes later to check on my condition, sounding astonished. In the middle of the check-up, I heard the doors burst open with firm footsteps. I wondered if I was experiencing sleep paralysis, seeing as I still couldn't open my eyes. As the commotion continued around me, I desperately tried to wake myself up from what felt like a nightmare. The sound of urgent voices and hurried movements only added to my confusion and fear.
"Auriell! Is my Auriell truly alive?!" A man's voice asked, seemingly speaking to this doctor. I strained to make sense of the situation, the man's voice sounding familiar yet distant. Slowly, I felt a hand grasp mine, bringing a sense of comfort and grounding amidst the chaos.
"Yes, your grace... Though it is shocking, it is fortunate news," The doctor spoke. "She is weak, however, and her injuries are still healing. It seems that she will remain blind with that deep wound over her eyes, however..." I tried to piece together the puzzle of my identity and the circumstances surrounding me, but the darkness that enveloped my vision hindered my efforts. The mention of my blindness sent a wave of despair through me, but the reassuring touch on my hand reminded me that I was not alone in this journey towards recovery.
My eyes? I immediately touched my face upon hearing the doctor's words, my fingertips brushing over the scarring wound that he spoke of frantically. The reality of my situation began to sink in as I realized the extent of my injuries. Despite the uncertainty of my future, I found solace in the presence of those who cared for me during this difficult time. "W-What...? My eyes...!"
"Auriell...!" The man let out, reaching out to her. He embraced her, trembling slightly like a child. "Dad is sorry, Auriell... It's all my fault..."
This was all too sudden for me. It didn't feel like the modern world where I grew up.
"Dad was wrong... I shouldn't have yelled at you like that..." The man spoke.
He was my dad? But I've never met my dad...
Oh...
Right, they are referring to me as Lady 'Auriell'.
It isn't a popular novel, but as I felt the wound over my eyes I soon realised that I had transmigrated into a novel that I've read recently, called 'The Crystallis of Armyllis.' The characters and setting felt eerily familiar as if I had stepped into a dream. As I tried to make sense of my surroundings, I couldn't shake the feeling that my fate was now intertwined with the plot of this novel.
It seems that I have become Auriell de Armyllis, daughter of the Archduke 'Killian de Armyllis'.
However, this body that I've woken up in was supposed to be dead...
