Chapter 8 - Yellow eyes Vs Blue light

Sam suddenly turned and ran into the narrow passage. His heart pounded in his chest, matching the quick rhythm of his footsteps. The walls of the passage were close, forcing him to keep his shoulders tucked in and move fast. Behind him, the creature let out a loud roar, its heavy steps shaking the ground as it chased him.

The passage was dark, with only a faint blue glow from the Heartstone at Sam's waist lighting the way. Shadows danced on the walls, making the narrow passage feel even smaller. Sam could hear the creature's growls getting louder, closer. He knew he had only a few moments to act.

As he ran, Sam's mind raced through his options. The passage would slow the beast down for a bit, but it wouldn't stop it. He needed to think fast. He held the dagger tightly in his hand, but he knew it wouldn't be enough on its own. He had to use his surroundings to help him.

Ahead, Sam saw a crumbling archway where the passage opened into a wider chamber. The walls were lined with old stone blocks, some of which had come loose over time. Sam's eyes quickly spotted the larger stones near the entrance, and an idea formed in his mind.

He stopped just before the archway and quickly checked the stones. They were heavy and old, but with the right push, he might be able to bring them down. He had no time to waste.

Placing the dagger between his teeth, Sam shoved his shoulder against one of the loose stones, pushing with all his strength. The stone shifted slightly, creaking under the pressure. The creature was almost upon him, its growls echoing through the passage, but Sam focused hard.

Finally, with a loud crack, the stone gave way and fell from the wall. Sam jumped back just in time as the stone hit the ground with a heavy crash, followed by several more stones tumbling down. Dust filled the air, making it hard to see.

The creature roared In anger, but its path was blocked. Sam could hear it scratching and growling, trying to claw its way through the rubble, but the stones held firm. Sam allowed himself a brief moment to catch his breath, wiping the sweat and dust from his forehead. The Heartstone's glow pulsed softly, showing that he had bought himself some time.

But Sam knew it wouldn't last. The creature was strong, too strong to be held back for long. He needed to move quickly if he wanted to use this short break to his advantage.

He turned and ran deeper into the chamber. The air was damp and cold, and the faint smell of moss lingered. Sam kept his senses sharp, his eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of danger. He knew the beast wasn't far behind, and he needed to find a way to end this fast.

The chamber opened into a larger space, with stone pillars rising like tall trees. In the center of the room was a large, round stone platform, surrounded by strange symbols carved into the ground. The air buzzed with energy, and Sam could feel the power coming from the platform.

"This must be it," Sam thought, his eyes narrowing. The ruins were old, very old, and Sam could feel that many powerful forces had once existed here. He didn't fully understand what the symbols meant, but he could feel that they were important.

He paused, feeling uneasy. The chamber seemed strange, almost like it was waiting for him. The way the symbols were placed and the quietness around him made him think it could be a trap.

A thousand questions raced through his mind. "What if this was a trap?, What if the dark creatures had set this up, knowing I will come?"

A shiver ran down his spine as he looked back at the path he had taken. He couldn't turn back now, but the worry that he was walking into danger stayed with him.

As he thought about different ways to defeat the creature, he saw a flickering blue light. He gripped his dagger tightly, feeling a surge of strength and determination. He was ready to face whatever danger lay ahead.

Suddenly, the dagger he was holding turned into a shiny smooth sword with a long, sharp blade that gleamed in the light. The handle was wrapped in soft leather with symbol of a shield with two crossed swords behind it. 'The symbol of the Guardians.' making it easy to grip. It felt strong and powerful, almost as if it was made just for Sam. Before he could figure out how that happened, another thought crossed his mind.

"Maybe the ruins and its Symbols are the key to defeating the creature."

Sam approached the platform carefully, his hand resting on the Heartstone. The blue light glowed brighter as he got closer, confirming his thoughts. This place was special, it held the power he needed.

But just as he reached the platform, a loud crash echoed through the chamber. Sam's heart skipped a beat as he turned to see the creature break through the rubble, its yellow eyes about the size of a large basketball, roughly 30 centimeters in diameter were burning with anger. It had broken free and was now coming towards him, blocking the only exit.

Sam's grip tightened on the Sword. He was out of time. The creature bared its teeth, ready to attack, and Sam could see the hunger in its yellow eyes, the hunger for the power he carried.

In a second, Sam made his decision. He had to use the power of the platform, no matter what.

Taking a deep breath, Sam stepped onto the platform, his boots clicking against the stone. He held the Heartstone high, its light growing stronger as it connected with the symbols on the ground. The air around him crackled with energy, and Sam could feel the power rushing through his body.

The creature roared and charged forward, but Sam stood his ground. He closed his eyes, focusing on the energy flowing through him, and willed the power of the Heartstone to respond.

There was a blinding flash of blue light, and the chamber was filled with a loud hum. The symbols on the ground began to glow, one by one, until the entire platform was bathed in a strange, bright light. The creature stopped, its eyes widened with fear as it sensed the power that had been awakened.

Sam felt the energy build up, reaching its peak. He knew this was it, the moment that would decide everything. With a shout, he thrust the Heartstone forward, releasing the energy in a burst of light.

Whoosh!

The light exploded outward, filling the chamber with a bright display of power. The creature let out a final, loud shriek as the light hit it, its body shaking before it was lifted off the ground and thrown against the far wall.

Thud!

The force of the impact caused the wall to crack, and the creature fell to the floor, still and silent.

Sam stood on the platform, breathing heavily as the light slowly faded. The chamber was quiet, the air still buzzing with the energy that had been released. The creature lay defeated, its massive body crumpled against the stone.

Sam lowered the Heartstone, feeling its power settle back into the small gem. He had done it. The battle was over, and the beast was defeated. But as he stood there, the weight of what he had just done began to sink in. He had tapped into a power far greater than he had ever imagined, and the thought of it both amazed and scared him.

The chamber was silent once more, the danger gone. But Sam knew this was just the beginning. The System had warned him that this was only one trial out of many, and the challenges ahead would only get harder. But for now, he had won.

As he turned to leave the chamber, he felt a sense of determination settle in his heart. He knew he had much to learn, and the road ahead would be long and difficult. But he was ready to face whatever came next.

With the Heartstone glowing softly at his side, Sam made his way back through the ruins. The night was still young, and the shadows that had once seemed so scary now felt like old friends. He had faced the darkness and come out on top.

And as he stepped out of the ruins and into the cool night air, Sam couldn't help but feel a sense of calm wash over him. The storm was coming, but for now, there was peace.
