Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: Age Ceremony

As Ice's coming of age ceremony approached, the entire village in Solara was abuzz with excitement. The test, a long-standing tradition in the village, was a crucial event that would determine the magic potential of every young person in the community.

Ice had heard whispered conversations among the adults about the test, and he knew that it was a serious matter. The village elders would be watching closely, assessing the children's abilities to discern if they had any magical talent.

As the day of the test approached, Ice felt a mixture of excitement and anxiety. This was a pivotal moment in his life, a rite of passage that would define his future. He knew that the test would be a challenge, and he was nervous about how he would perform.

But he had been training hard, practicing his magic skills with dedication and determination. He had also been studying the ancient texts and lore of their people, determined to impress the elders and do his best on the test.

The day finally arrived, and Ice and the other children in his age group gathered in the sacred clearing at the edge of the village. The elders stood on a raised platform, their faces serious and solemn. They were the keepers of the ancient knowledge, the ones who would determine the children's destinies.

Ice's heart beat loudly in his chest as he stood in line with the other children, waiting to be called up to be tested.

As the testing began, each child was called up to the platform one by one. They were asked to demonstrate their magical abilities, performing basic feats of magic and then progressively more complex ones.

Ice watched nervously as the other children were tested, his mind racing with thoughts of what he would do when his turn came.

Finally, it was Ice's turn. He took a deep breath and stepped up to the platform, feeling the weight of the elders' eyes upon him.

The elder standing before him looked at him seriously, his eyes searching for any sign of magical talent. Ice stood tall, trying to project an air of confidence. He was ready for the test.

The elder regarded him for a moment, his eyes narrowing, before speaking.

"Show me your magic, young one," he said, his voice deep and commanding.

Ice took a deep breath and focused his mind. He closed his eyes, calling upon the magic within him. He felt the power building within him, a tingling sensation in his fingertips.

Then he opened his eyes and held out his hands, channeling the magic into a small swirling ball of ice. The ball hovered just above his palms, its surface sparkling and cold.

The elder's eyes widened as Ice manipulated the ball of ice, causing it to change shape and size with ease. He moved it from hand to hand, making it grow and shrink at his command.

Ice felt a sense of pride swelling within him, knowing that he was impressing the elder with his skills.

The elder watched in silence, his expression unreadable. When Ice was finished, he nodded slowly, a slight smile on his lips.

"You have a natural ability, young one," he said, his voice low and gravelly. "You could become a powerful ice mage if you properly hone your skills."

As the testing continued, it became clear that there was another young girl among the children who also possessed a remarkable ability. Her name was Sera, and she was discovered to have a powerful affinity for water magic.

Her control over water was extraordinary, able to summon and manipulate it with ease. The elders were taken aback by her skill, recognizing the powerful potential that was before them.

Sera demonstrated her mastery over water magic, creating complex shapes and forms with ease. The water seemed to obey her commands, swirling and dancing at her will like a loyal pet.

The elders watched in awe, whispering amongst themselves about the potential of this young water mage.

After the testing was complete, the elders gathered together to discuss the results. They spoke in hushed tones, discussing the talents they had witnessed.

When they spoke of Ice and Sera, there was a sense of excitement and anticipation in the air. Both children had exhibited remarkable abilities, and the elders were keen to nurture and develop their magic to its fullest potential.
