_Chapter 25: Family Matters_
Maya's relationship with Chase continued to blossom, but she knew she had to balance her love life with her family responsibilities. She started spending more time with her parents, helping with household chores and bonding with her siblings.
Aryan, her 29-year-old elder brother, who was around the same age as Chase, offered his guidance. "Maya, I know you're happy with Chase, but don't forget about your own goals and aspirations. You've worked hard to get into med school."
Kiara, her 17-year-old younger sister, playfully rolled her eyes. "Aryan, stop being so serious! Maya's happy, and that's all that matters."
Maya's parents, Nalini and Rohan, expressed their concerns too. "Maya, we want you to be happy, but we also want you to be secure. Chase is a good man, but we don't know much about his family."
Chase, sensing Maya's family's concerns, made an effort to connect with them. He joined them for Sunday dinners, played with Kiara, and helped Rohan with his gardening.
As Maya watched Chase interact with her family, she felt her heart swell with love and gratitude. She knew she had made the right choice in choosing him.
But as things were falling into place, Maya's parents dropped a bombshell. "Maya, we want you to take a break from med school and focus on your marriage to Chase."
Maya was taken aback. "What? Why? I've worked so hard to get here!"
Nalini's expression turned stern. "We know, beta, but we think it's time you prioritized your family life. Chase is a good man, and we don't want you to lose him."
Maya felt torn between her love for Chase and her dreams of becoming a doctor. She knew she had to make a choice, but which path would she choose?
