Catherine froze at the point where she was standing, she wasn't sure whether to pretend William wasn't standing right in front of her, turn around and head back to the bedroom or just give him a response, infact, "It's not like you care William." Catherine sneered.
"Yeah, clearly, I don't." William responded with his full chest. His words felt like a hot slap that swept across Catherine's face.
Catherine choked on her own saliva after hearing what William said to her. She began to cough and gently beat her chest to calm herself down. As he made way for her to get a glass of water for herself since he was too selfish to pass a glass to her, he said, "Answer my question."
Catherine gulped down the water from her cup about 4 times in a row to stop herself from coughing with her gaze still on William. She put the cup away and responded, "I was in the guest room. I'll be sleeping there tonight." She said as she returned the glass back into the cabinet after rinsing it and adjusting her robe band.
While she was making her way to the exist, William stopped her. "Yeah, about that. My parents Will return tomorrow, I don't have the energy to deal with dumb questions, I'm sure you know what to do because I'm not going to remind you of something you should know already at this point."
Catherine stopped and listened to his words without turning around to look at his face. When he was done speaking, she shut her eyes tightly, sighed and walked away, back to the guest room.
William noticed she had already exited the kitchen, before leaving to his bedroom. When Catherine got to her room, she pounced on her bed and sighed, with her gaze stuck to the ceiling. Her thoughts couldn't help but travel back to the day her father told her about the deal, not only did he not give her the right to make a choice, he and her mother gaslighted her into agreeing to this . . . In disguise of a marriage.
She jerked her head to the side table her phone was resting on as she bit tightly on her lower lip, she grabbed her phone and immediately texted Felice her best friend, hoping she was awake.
Catherine: Hey, felice, you awake?...
After putting down the message, Catherine placed her phone on her chest as she continued to stare at the ceiling, lost in her thoughts. She was interupted when she felt the vibration of her phone on her chest.
She hurridly picked up her phone and saw that Felice had immediately texted back. The corner of her lips curled up to form a grin when she saw the text.
Felice:Yup! I'm up, why are you up? I thought you're meant to be with William or something? I mean it's literally almost 12 am.
Catherine: yeah, I'm not in the same room as William right now, so basically I don't need to worry about that right now. Since I'm as good as his prisoner or something.
Felice: oh, okay then. So it's safe to talk about the "mission" here now?
Catherine:Well, not really, but I'll definitely tell you about it tomorrow. By the way, I'm having the worst night ever.
Felice: what's the matter?
Catherine: it's William, but I'll tell you about it tomorrow, when I see you that is, we have work tomorrow so I better head to bed now, I just wanted to check on you.
Felice: Okay then, in that case, I'll see you tomorrow, love ya!
Catherine: love ya.
Catherine scrolled through her phone as the blur white light reflecting on her face from her phone screen illuminated the dark room to an extent. She turned off her phone and sighed as she stretched her hand to the side table to return her phone back to where it was initially.
She adjusted her position, turning to the side and using her hand as a pillow as her head rested on it. She shut her eyes tight, hoping that someday some how she would be able to get out of this mess they called a marriage.

A loud beeping sound kept interrupting Catherine's sleep. She was too sleepy and tired to realize it was actually her alarming clock, trying to wake her up, she was too busy thinking it was all in her head.
Suddenly, William's words rang in her head, "my parents will return tomorrow..." Tomorrow, meant today! Catherine's eyes grew wide at a stretch. She immediately smacked the alarm to turn it off and sprung out of the bed.
If Mr and Mrs Bentley returned home to find Catherine and William sleeping in two different rooms, it would only cause havoc and that was what William meant when he said he didn't have the energy to attend to any questions from his parents.
While Catherine was trying to arrange her things, she heard the sound of a car pull up at the front of the mansion, she froze, she hoped it wasn't Mr and Mrs Bentley's car, she tiptoed to the window and peeed through it. "Shit!" It was them.
"Oh, goodness. Fuck." Catherine cursed quietly. She had about 10 seconds to pull her things from the bathroom to the upstairs bathroom and then arrange the bed and make it look like nobody had been there all year.
She was able to gather all her toiletries. She gripped her blanket with one hand since her left elbow was broke and gently made her way out of the room.
When William found out his parents were in the compound, he ran down the stairs to remind Catherine of the warning he gave to her the previous night. Unfortunately, the creaking sound of the door came along with footsteps of Bentley and his wife.
They walked in on William on the staircase and Catherine with a blanket and toiletries in her hand and clearly she looked like she had just woken up from sleep.
Michelle turned to her husband and tilted her head with her mouth slightly opened, not sure if what to say. Bentley furrowed his brows and narrowed his eyes, moving his gaze from Catherine to William, he asked in a firm voice, "What the fuck is going on here?"
