Chapter 2 - A wild wolf

✝ Here lies Mr and Mrs Lupus✝

Soren puts two extremely dark shades of crimson roses that were almost producing a true black colour.

"Hi mom and dad. I wish you peace over there, from the bottom of my heart."

Soren sighs nonchalantly looking at the sky.

"I turned 21 today."

He looked at the flowers and whispered, "And today's also the day I lost you." The cold breeze hits his face, erupting the goosebumps on his skin.

"I couldn't comprehend which type of flowers to choose but I really like those, they look like the same dark blood that you two shaded while saving me years back. So here, I hope you accept these."

He rises from the bending position on his knees and looks at his parents grave for the last time.

"I don't know what you were thinking back when you handed me to uncle Stephen. I believe probably for my safety. And that's why he handed me to those half wolf and half human so they could protect me or more like use me as a pet."

Soren sighs in exhaustion.

"I should leave now, Master Zale must be waiting for me. If he doesn't find me there before him he'll put the whole house on fire."

Soren walked past all the graves. His head was full of thoughts about this and that. Yet somehow his ears buzzed with the echoes of voices. Voices that belong to other shifters he reckons.

His predatory abilities give him the advantage to hear the sound of even a pin dropping from miles away.

He slowed his pace and abruptly turned around to catch the prey off guard but what appeared in his sight was an old lady with a mop in her hands.

The smiling wrinkled face bowed a little in front of him instinctively as if sensing his position in the food chain.

"Who are you?" Soren asked.

"I work here. Often come here to clean." The old lady said.

Soren didn't expect the lady to speak any further yet she did.

"You are above me in this position but of course, I'm older than you in age and like a grandmother to you. Can I call you son?"

Soren blinked in pure confusion, flabbergasted by her words and unable to find any reason to deny the proposal, he slowly nodded. He always listens to his instincts and doesn't let his guards down ever since he was a kid.

"Thank you, son." She called him anyway. "They're your parents over there."

Soren didn't even try to pretend his annoyance and looked at her wearily.

"It's a rare sight nowadays, to see the kids coming to meet their parents here. You must be missing them a lot."

"I don't miss them." Soren deadpan, doesn't want to carry on with the topic of his parents.

"Oh dear, that's a bit harsh don't you think so?" The old lady said to an unruffled emotionless Soren.

"No, I don't. They were like a temporary guest in my life." Soren let out with enough anger that forced the lady to take a step back. "They came like a breeze of air and eventually left me. People don't tend to miss their guests, so I don't miss them."

His eyes glow a deep blue like burning flame at the mere thought of that night, at the thought of what his parents did.

Sensing the fear of the lady in the air, he took a deep breath. Closing his eyes, he sends a warning glare to his inner beast who loses his control at the unforgettable memory. After a few minutes his blood went thin, calming his numbs. His eyes returned to his usual brown shade.

The lady who gets rattled at what's happening but sensing the danger that circles her decided to apologise and leave soon.

"I'm sorry-"

However, before she could say anything, Soren's phone rings, interrupting the silent aura that has started to hover over them.

"Excuse me." Without looking at her and waiting for her response he leaves and picks up the phone.

"Hello." He greets but it seems that the person on the other line doesn't have the time to greet.

"Where are you lurking? Master Zale is trying to kill us all!!"

Soren sighs in exhaustion, he couldn't get a single break to breathe peacefully.

"Hey, Are you listening? Hurry up and come here if you don't want him injuring us here!"

"Where is he now?" Soren inquired.

"Destroying his room, we lock him there since you were not here and-"

"You did fucking what?!!" Soren yells through the phone.

"Close spaces are a trigger to his feeble health. You are simply provoking him and his wolf. Open the damn door!"

"No, we can't do that right now...urghhh!!!. What the hell, hey! Soren come here as fast as you can he's breaking the door."

"Ah, for god's sake." Soren hung up the phone and ran for his car. The way from the graveyard to the shilister's mansion was not that much. It will hardly take twenty minutes to get there.

And if you were an ignorant citizen like Soren, let your car fly at the full speed, breaking some rules here and there then you could definitely reach in less than ten.

He applied full pressure on the brakes, tyres screeching against the road forcing the sparks to lit up. Getting out of the car he tossed the keys in his pocket, walking as fast as his leg could manage, he made his way to the enormous mansion that stands highly in front of him.

When he entered he was expecting the screams and cries for help from the maids and servants but what welcomed him was a pin drop silence.

Anyhow, he didn't pay much attention and directed his way into the hall and up towards the stairs where he could easily sniff the panic and fear from the creatures seated there.

As per recognising the familiar formidable scent same to the one they were dealing with a few moments ago, they all looked at Soren and left a relieved breath.

The head of them all who called him earlier, stood from his place and walked down to Soren.

He was about to say something but Soren beats him on that by asking,

"Is he still in his room?"

The elder man looked down with guilt present in his eyes. Actually, not only him, everyone who was seated there or hiding their small kids behind them were feeling guilty.

They lock their future Alpha in his room so that they could save themselves and their children. But doing so was against their blood, species and positions.

"Yes," the old man nods.

Soren didn't waste any time and asked, "Did he call my name or search for me."

"Yes, After returning he already looks like he was triggered but when he called your name you weren't here that ignites him more. We tried to calm him down but you already know that nothing could soothe his raged mind except you." The elder takes a breath before he continues.

"When he started to raze his room I locked it, I'm sorry but the safety of all those who work here is on me."

He looked as if he'd started to cry at any second now.

"It's fine and I'm sorry for all the disturbance that was created because of me." Soren apologises though it wasn't his fault and runs up the stairs all while opening the buttons of his black suit. "I got it from here you all can take your leaves."

After walking a while he reached zale's room. Before unlocking it, he strolled his eyes all over the cracks, the cleaving lines across the door displaying its endurance through all the destruction it had gone through.

'So you destroy yet another door huh', Soren sighs heavily.
