A strip of hide has been inscribed with a job posting in the busy hall of the Adventuring Guild.Ā
It reads:
Detached forces from a Goblin army along the coast have taken an abandoned military outpost as their safe haven. Exact number of hostiles is unknown. The Adventuring Guild of Camelot requests the aid of an adventuring party with the sole purpose of reacquiring the outpost and subjugating the hostile forces that have claimed it.
Monster Classification: Goblin and Hobgoblin
Reward: 300 gold per party member in addition to supplies left behind by the outpost's last inhabitants.
As the Nasty Bastards peruse the Adventuring Guild's job board, Wolfgang picks up the job listing and shows it to the other Bastards.Ā
"This is the one, guys. This is what we have been waiting for!"
Pointy reads the listing and frowns,
"300 gold? We can make more than thatā¦ Look at this one!"
She holds up a flier excitedly showing an illustration of a dragon with seven heads. Across the bottom of the flier are 7 skulls marking the difficulty of this quest as near impossible.
Monster Classification: Hydra
Reward: 50,000 gold and 1 boon from the king.
BONK
"Stop trying to get us all killed!" shouts Chonk "If we haven't even killed a dragon yet, how the hell are we going to fare against one with 7 heads?"
Pointy looks at him with tears in her eyes after being hit in the head with a gauntlet, "Go big or go homeā¦ go big or go home."
Chonk pointedly ignores Pointy,
"Although I wouldn't say 300 gold is 'what we've been waiting for' like you said Wolfgang."
"No no the gold is insignificant, it's the second part, 'supplies left behind by the outpost's last inhabitants.'" Wolf continues, "A military outpost has to have some good stuff. Think of all of the weapons we could collect and sell, think about if we stripped off the beddings to sell, we could strip this outpost down to the last nailā¦ we have been given free reign to loot!"
"Clearly they want the stronghold intact, but I do like the idea of a gear upgradeā¦ Okay we will accept this one."
"Then we are all in agreement?" Says Wolfgang.
Pointy moves to pick up another equally deadly task, "Wait hold on I think this one has poten-"
BONK
"Majority rules." Wolfgang and Chonk say in unison.
"Okay, enough with the PVP or I will rip you apart."

The Nasty Bastards, in the eyes of the adventuring guild, are a group of three upstarts who have quickly made a name for themselves. With just a Bard, a Brawler, and a suicidal Druid, this group has surpassed all expectations with every accepted job. From the guild's perspective, the group never takes days off, never tires, and never dies. It's terrifying.
Wolfgang is an attractive young human with a talent for the lute, his charm seemingly knows no bounds, and his spell casting is superb for his level. Even in light leather armor he really seems to light up a room.
Chonk is a self proclaimed 'thicc' gnome with an ancestral gift for the warhammer. Adorned in gnomish armor, he is able to avoid attacks with a grace unbefitting of his stature.
Pointy is a tall elven heroine with a wild glint in her eyes. Her body is covered with plant matter at various stages of decay and uses bestial claws to fight foes.Ā
Though their time in the Capital has been short, their reputation and talents have been demonstrated time and time again. At least like seven times.
The receptionist at the guild hall happily accepts the strip of hide from the hands of the gnome and wishes them good luck on their adventure.Ā
