Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: It's over

In the expansive stadium, there was something deeply imbedded in the ground. It was a human shaped figure stood out in a sea of fire and crevices.

Above him an enormous dragon stood. It's large shining green claws were reflected by the sun, giving off a shimmering forest hue. The ferocious features on its face had begun to fade as it's set commands had been completed.

"Do you think he'll give up?"

Alex Downright looked to his side, seeing Neveah looking at August seemingly apathetically.

"..That was a hard hit..any kid would give up after that."

"..boring,I thought he'd go farther."

"Well regardless, congratulations are due."

Neveah began to unsummon the large creature. She pointed her palm forward and a rush of white began to seemingly be sucked up into her fingertips. The dragon began to disintegrate into small flickering lights along with the rest of the environment around August.

"Congratulations young Examinee. Making it this far into the survival test is an incredible feat. You did great, and we can't wait to see you at the academy!"

"..."

"Examinee..?"

*sniff* *hick*

'...is that crying..?'

-August-

*Mmmm*

Low groans slowly escaped my mouth as I struggled to hold back the rush of tears that were about to adorn my face. Looking to my side I saw that my shoulder was practically coming off my body.

My chest seemed to have caved in from the large force that came from the Dragon. I began to feel blood rush up to my throat and breathing became harder with each attempt.

I began to hear footsteps rushing towards me,

"Someone get the stretcher! The upper body is in critical danger!"

"HOLY, he's basically stuck in the ground!"

"Pfttt! Like an Yostrich!"

Low snickers were exchanged between the two healers, as they plied me from the earth in a rather rough manner.

"Ok stop, stop, we have to help him..."

A low yellow light began to cover my entire body, numbing the excruciating pain that was slowly turning me insane.

"It's ok kid, you'll be ok in an hour. The healing is slow and gradual but you should be fine with time."

I gave a slow nod at his inquiry and took deep breaths as they transported me out of the stadium.

A child was just hurt and this is how they act..

A bunch of barbarians in this world. No sense of empathy or kindness in them. I swear...

"That was pretty good kid...and I believe our magics may be similar..."

A low voice with an Cuban accent began to speak to me. He had medium curly..blue hair...? He seemed to be one of the examiners that watched over my fights..watched me get shat on...

"....thank you..."

"Don't speak too much, you took a nasty hit. It'd be a shame for such a talented individual become injured, so I wish you the best of luck in your healing journey."

A weak look of confirmation went his way as I began to relax my body, waiting for the healing to finish as we made our way to the healing camp. I'm just gonna close my eyes..and wait...

I might die from stress and panic before the monsters get me...

"...Why would you summon such a powerful creature..?"

The young woman gave me a bit of a disdainful look. A look that gave off 'why would you even ask that question?'

"Because I thought he was stronger? I wanted to see something new."

"..That's pretty reckless.."

"Well he's alive anyway, so lets head over to Group S, I heard about some kid that lasted for 5 hours on the Mana stone!"

I silently followed behind the genius mage, as she began to float over to Group S and look for the Verdera Starling child.

A young child, a zero to hero story. Suddenly gaining so much power out of nowhere and becoming the clear cut Mr. Number 1 of the year.

"That kid. He's weird. Where did he get all this strength from? Was he hiding it? He's a complete conundrum.."

"Who cares? It's something to be curious about!"

I sent a weary nod in her direction because of her complete disregard of my opinion. What happened to that kid though?

Assuming he was hiding his power? Why would he need to? Unless if he's got some weird tendencies...

"Why are you looking at me like that, Alex?"

"..No reason.."

_

"Ok that should be good. Your upper body should be completely fine. Just try not to move it to much as it's still relatively new and healing."

"Yes.. Thank you, Really."

"No problem, you should be enrolling into the academy yes? Look for the nurse and have them check on your condition every month so that it heals nice and timely."

I gave another round of praise and thanks and headed out of the camp. Many students were in there, suffering from a wide variety of pains. Some had burn marks whilst others were simply sleeping from mana exhaustion.

I wasn't an odd one out..nice. Hopefully they have some drugs or something in this world. This stress is really too much.

...

...

Weed would be a little much wouldn't it?

I began to take deep breaths to once again relax and rest my chaotic mind as I walked over towards my group to wait for the last people to finish and gain my identity cards.

"That sterling kid somehow made it past level 18! I can't believe this!"

"Tch. Luck I guess."

..No way was I out for so long that the jerk caught up to me.

*ZWOOOOM*

A large sound of what seemed to be a loud cry..? It sounded high pitched and what followed came a loud BANG that shoot the arena.

I quickly headed over to where the sound was coming from and saw a large crowd of people blocking the entrance to what seemed to be Group S.

A bright light began to emanate from the arena and after it dissipated a large explosion occurred.

Is that a..star..? No I mean like it's literally a bright yellow star. How is that even an ability..?

Isn't that like stupidly overpowered..?

Also why are so many people over here? I was up to level 16!

"Congratulations for making it past level 18 young Starling! This is a great achievement and you are now entering into one of the legendary ranks of the Academy."

"We hope you have rested enough for we shall now begin the 19th level. Good luck!"

A slow grumble was heard as a large figure began to be formed in the blinding white light. Slowly, as if the light was being peeled off, green scales began to illuminate and glisten under the afternoon sun.

...

it's the dragon.

Been a long time since I posted. That's my bad, moving into college and stuff so chapters are definitely going to be coming out MUCH slower.
