Chapter 2 - [2] Flipflops incident

Kale's head pulsed with a dull, relentless ache. . As he tried to sit up, a wave of dizziness struck, and a sharp pain shot through his skull. His vision blurred, and he instinctively gripped the edge of the bed, trying to steady himself.

Is this... a hospital? The sterile scent of disinfectant lingered in the air, and the soft beeping of a monitor confirmed his suspicions. He winced as the throbbing pain intensified. "Argh… my head..." he muttered, the words slipping through clenched teeth.

The door creaked open, and soft footsteps approached. A nurse in scrubs entered, clipboard in hand. She gave him a look of mixed concern and quiet disapproval.

"You shouldn't be moving yet, sir," the nurse said firmly. She quickly set her clipboard on the bedside table and gently eased him back down onto the bed. Once he was settled, she checked and adjusted his IV. "You're lucky to be alive after what you did. Sigh... kids these days."

Kale blinked, struggling to piece together what she was saying. "What... happened?" His voice was rough, strained, as though he hadn't spoken in days.

The nurse paused, her expression unreadable as she looked at the patient. "You were found unconscious after a fall. Don't you remember?" she asked gently, watching his face for any sign of recognition. She gave a soft sigh before continuing, "Thankfully, your injuries aren't as severe as they could have been, but your body needs time to heal. You've been through a lot." She adjusted his pillow to make him more comfortable, then carefully helped him settle back down into the bed. "Please, try to relax and get some rest. I'll make sure to call the doctor and let them know you're awake."

"Huh?" Kale repeated, his voice distant, as though the word didn't quite make sense.

"Just stay put," she insisted. "You need rest."

His mind raced, the flashes of memories—blurred images of a cliff, the sound of gunfire, Luis's mocking smile—rushed back, fragmented and jagged. His heart began to race, but his body refused to respond, weighed down by weakness.

"Luis..." he whispered, barely audible. The name lingered bitterly on his tongue, a reminder of something he couldn't quite reach.

"Who?" The nurse asked, looking up from her work, her expression a mix of curiosity and confusion.

Kale shook his head, regretting the movement instantly as the pain in his skull worsened. "Nothing... never mind... Just... please call my wife."

The nurse blinked, pausing her task. "Wife?

Kale frowned, his mind still foggy. "Yes My wife I need to talk to her soon please contact her immedia-"

Before Kale could finish, a voice suddenly cut through the air. Liam? What have you done this time? Is this another one of your crazy stunts?

The nurse hurried toward him, trying to calm him down. "Sir, please, calm down. The kid hasn't recovered yet.

Kale stared at the nurse, confusion and fear overtaking him. "Huh? What are you saying? And who are you?"

A man entered the room, his voice gruff but familiar. "How many times is this time huh? Don't pretend that you don't know me."

"Huh" Joseph look at his confused face and glance to the nurse

"I'm your uncle. You remember me, right?" He turned to the nurse. "Hey, Miss Nurse, my nephew's his okay, right?"

The nurse glanced between them, her brow furrowing. "Umm... I think, sir... Mr. Liam should rest... I will call the doctor." She quickly walked out.

A few minutes passed before the doctor arrived.

"Mr. Liam, can you look this way?" The doctor said while trying to check his eyes.

It's Kale, Kale thought, struggling to make sense of the situation. "Call me kale I don't know who's that liam"

The three people suddenly stared at him in disbelief.

"Ah Mr. Kale, if you don't mind me asking but do you perhaps remember what happened to you?"

Kale tried to focus, the memories still fragmented but clear enough. "Yes... I was driving to my company. Then my car was bombed by gunfire... it was Secretary Luis. He did this. He kicked my car... that's why I fell..."

"So, this Secretary Luis tried to kill you?" the doctor asked, furrowing his brow.

"Yes," Kale replied, his voice growing stronger.

But before the doctor could speak again, someone suddenly yelled from the door.

"Have you gone crazy? did you hit your head hard to make up this weird stories." A voice full of urgency and disbelief rang through the room.

Kale stared at the man yelling at him, his face blank, as if he were watching a lunatic. The man's eyes twitched in frustration as he noticed Kale's expression, he let out a strangled growl. Without hesitation, the man slipped off his flip-flops and raised them, aiming to slap Kale across the face.

Before he could strike, the doctor and nurse intervened, each grabbing an arm to hold him back.

"No, no! Let me go! I'll beat some sense into that kid!" the man shouted, struggling against their grip. His voice cracked with a mix of anger and desperation. "I'm going to die because of this kid—let me go, doctor!"

"Sir, please calm down!" the doctor said, struggling to maintain composure as he held the man's arm firmly. "The patient seems confused. Acting out won't help anyone."

The man grumbled, his chest heaving as he glared at Kale. Slowly, he stopped resisting, his shoulders sagging as the fight drained out of him. "Fine, fine," he muttered, catching his breath.

But as soon as the doctor and nurse released him, the man hurled his flip-flop at Kale with surprising speed.

"Hey!" the nurse exclaimed in shock, while the doctor froze, his face pale.

Kale's instincts kicked in just in time. He turned his head slightly, and the flip-flop narrowly missed him, bouncing harmlessly off the bed railing.

The doctor clutched his chest, looking like he might faint from the sudden tension. "Sir, you can't—"

Before he could finish, Kale winced, groaning as a sharp pain flared in his head. The movement to dodge had worsened his already throbbing skull.

"Argh..." Kale clutched his head, his vision swimming.

"That's it! Out!" the nurse snapped, grabbing the man by his arm and dragging him toward the door.

"Wait! I wasn't done!" the man protested, though his voice lacked the earlier fury. "That brat—he's trying to mess with us!"

The nurse didn't listen, her grip firm as she escorted him out of the room. "You've done enough. Come back when you've calmed down," she said coldly, slamming the door shut behind them.

The doctor sighed, running a hand over his face. "I swear, I'll have a heart attack before this day is over..." He turned his attention back to Kale, who was still groaning in pain.

"Let me take a look," the doctor said, pulling on a pair of gloves and leaning closer. "You might've aggravated your injury."

Kale squinted at him through the haze of pain. "Who... was that guy? And why does he keep calling me Liam?"

The doctor hesitated, meeting Kale's confused gaze. "You really don't remember, do you?"

Kale shook his head slightly, careful not to worsen the throbbing in his skull. "No...I don't know who that man is or who is Liam is, I don't even know why he is angry with me"

The doctor straightened, his brow furrowing as he made a note on his clipboard. "It's possible you're experiencing retrograde amnesia. It not confirmed yet, We'll run some tests to confirm it. For now, rest. We'll sort this out once we know more."

The nurse fixes this pillow again before tucking him in blankets she also o whisper to kale.

Just ring the Botton if you need something or is that psychopath come back and annoy you again.

She said before leaving together with the doctor.
