Chapter 14 - Chapter 13.5: Inferno-2

We kept fighting, or more like running and occasionally stealing a cheap shot at its tail or legs. We had no choice. I focused on dodging the dragon's attacks, looking for any opening, any sign of vulnerability. The dragon's scales were too tough to penetrate, and its fire breath made it impossible to get close. But as the battle raged on, I noticed something—whenever the dragon reared back to breathe fire, there was a slight delay before the flames erupted.

"ShadowStalker, aim for its mouth when it charges up for fire breath!" I yelled, my voice hoarse from the heat and smoke.

ShadowStalker didn't hesitate. The next time the dragon reared back, he hurled his lance with all his strength, aiming directly at the dragon's open mouth. The lance flew true, striking the dragon just as it was about to unleash another wave of fire. The impact caused the dragon to recoil, its attack momentarily halted. And the fire bursting out through its nose. Sure it was fire resistant, but what was about its precious nose hole?

"That's it!" I shouted, rushing in with my sword. "Keep hitting it when it tries to breathe fire!" The thing was slightly staggered. But that was enough. "BLADE DANCE!"

"PENETRATION!"

Viewer6: God I love these two.

Viewer9: Never change, dudes, never change.

We repeated the strategy, timing our attacks perfectly. Each time the dragon prepared to breathe fire, we struck, targeting the vulnerable spot in its mouth. The battle was grueling, and we both took heavy damage, but slowly, we began to wear the dragon down.

SS was right. Levels didn't matter. As long as we wanted to do this, we could.

But the dragon wasn't done yet. As its health dwindled, it became even more ferocious, its attacks more desperate. It unleashed a series of powerful tail whips and claw swipes, and the flames became more intense, the heat almost unbearable: It didn't even care about its nose, it blew through the fucking nose and tried to scorch us. My health was dangerously low, and I was down to my (rather SS') last health potion.

"This is our last shot!" ShadowStalker shouted, his own health bar flashing red. "We need to finish it now! Or die!"

"Do or die," I said. "Let's do it and not die!"

"That's the plan," he jumped ahead. "Divine-"

"BLADE DANCE"

"PLUNE!" ShadowStalker swirled his lance like a drill as he plunged straight on the head of the dragon, meanwhile, I danced and cut its underbelly repeatedly.

With a final burst of adrenaline, we'd launched a coordinated assault. ShadowStalker twith all his might, had pierced the dragon's mouth and at the same moment, I delivered a critical strike to the dragon's exposed underbelly.

The dragon let out a deafening roar, its body writhing in pain. For a moment, it seemed as if it might retaliate, but then, with a final shudder, the massive creature collapsed. The flames around us flickered and died out, and the chamber fell silent.

We stood there, panting, our health bars barely visible. The dragon's body slowly disintegrated into pixels, leaving behind a large, ornate chest. We had done it—barely, but we had done it.

"That was... insane," I said, collapsing to the ground, my hands trembling from the intensity of the fight. "It's not gonna get up again, right?" Cause I really had nothing left, nothing at all!

Viewer3: God that was epic

Viewer6: I'm missing PENETRATION already.

Viewer8: Of course you do, you virgin.

Viewer10: Fuck off

Viewer6: Yeah fuck off lol

"Yeah, I'm gonna start crying if it gets up again," ShadowStalker huffed. "But we made it."

As the dragon disappeared, a chest appeared in its place.

We opened the chest together, and inside was the third and final relic. It was a beautifully crafted scale, glowing with a soft, orange light. As we picked it up, our quest log updated: Final Quest: Uncover the Hidden Secrets of Treasure Island.

"We have all three relics," I said, still trying to catch my breath. "Now we just need to figure out what to do with them."

"Yeah," ShadowStalker said. "But whatever it is, it's going to be big."

"It has to be. After what this game made us go through."

"This is fairly typical of RVR games tho."

"True but those are made hard just to screw your wallet."

"Fair."

With the relic in hand and the final quest ahead of us, we knew that our adventure was far from over. The island still held many secrets, and the biggest challenge was yet to come. But for now, we allowed ourselves a moment of victory, knowing that we had survived one of the toughest battles we'd ever faced.
