Chapter 2 - Volume 1 Chapter 2 - Words heal and teach

Over the years, Lin Jie had chatted with many clients and had mastered some basic observation and communication abilities.

The line, "You seem to have encountered difficulties" didn't have any meaning by itself. It was like how fortune-tellers always started with, "There is an ominous aura around you" - it was a psychological suggestion.

It was something like a flag in a game. Once the conditions were met, the next part of the conversation would follow suit.

When people hear the word 'problem', they subconsciously wonder if they have actually encountered any recent problem. It goes without saying that most people's lives will not be smooth sailing all the way through.

Trouble, big or small, was still trouble.

And once a customer started grumbling, it was time for Teacher Lin to hand out chicken soup and shorten the distance.

However, with this kind of cold reading ploy, there was a possibility of failure.

For example, the other party might be really lucky throughout their lives, or perhaps he might be protected from outsiders, making it difficult to communicate.

However, Lin Jie was very confident that he could get this person to open up because the drenched woman in front of him was indeed in an extremely terrible situation.

Ji Zhixue was wiping herself dry when she suddenly stopped to raise her head and look at the smiling young man behind the counter. "Yes, I've encountered an unpleasant problem."

She couldn't tell if this man was a friend or an enemy, but even if he was an enemy, it was unlikely for her to escape this seemingly mystical entity in her current weakened state.

Since he was making things unnecessarily complicated, she was just playing along. She would learn this guy's purpose and see how divine he was.

If he was a friend, it would be a pleasant surprise.

If he was an enemy, she would allocate more time to rest.

Meanwhile, Lin Jie noticed that her eyes were not black, but a shade of iron gray. In her pupils were brilliant dots that looked like perfectly polished gems. At the top of her ear was a three-inch gash that still glistened with blood.

No matter how he looked at her, this woman had many stories to share.

Lin Jie asked: "Are you facing problems in interpersonal relationships?"

Since there were no complaints about this downpour so far, the next most likely problem for women of her age would be relationship problems.

Of course, he couldn't limit it to love, friendship or family, so he decided to use the words - interpersonal relationships.

A common technique used by con artists, psychics, and Teacher Lin was to throw out something vague to provide some room for error.

On the other hand, Ji Zhixue's heart suddenly became heavy upon hearing these words.

Just 20 minutes ago, she had been betrayed by a group of hunters in a secret location. Those who were hunting for her now were none other than her former comrades.

Greed had blinded their eyes.

In other words, Lin Jie wasn't wrong in saying that she had interpersonal problems.

Ji Zhixue was shocked. It only took 20 minutes for an outsider to find out. This speed of spreading definitely couldn't have been hindsight.

Only two possibilities were possible.

One, he had planted informants in her hunting group, and those informants had informed him right after the incident happened.

Second, that young man before her possessed some sort of omniscient ability.

Ji Zhixue silently watched as the towel, which was now drenched in dark red blood, gradually evaporated, turning into wisps of tart smoke before she finally sat down at the counter. She tapped her fingers lightly on the cup in front of her before speaking softly: "I've been betrayed."

Oh? This is amazing.

Lin Jie raised his eyebrows.

''This is more melodramatic than I thought. Was her boyfriend having an affair behind her back, or was she stabbed in the back by one of her close friends?

It was undoubtedly gossip at the highest level, but Teacher Lin was a mentor, not a middle-aged aunt who talked behind others' backs.

The melodrama only meant that more could be learned from her.

"Everything in this world has two sides. You were betrayed, but this could also be an opportunity for you to see what kind of people they really are."

Lin Jie picked up the teapot and filled his cup with still hot tea before seriously continuing: "Those who choose to leave will eventually leave. Once they have made their decision, they can come up with thousands of reasons to justify it."

Ji Zhixue could deeply understand these words.

The magic egg mirror was just a fuse that fueled their greed. Even if it wasn't, there would eventually come a day when they would make the same decision as today.

It would still be the same result, just for a different reason.

Ji Zhixue rubbed her cold hand on the cup, then said self-deprecatingly, "You're absolutely right, but I've already lost too much because of this betrayal. What good would it do me to see through them?"

Lost too much... She must have had her heart broken by a bastard. Haa, how pathetic.

Lin Jie sympathized with her.

Wounds on the body were easy to heal, but wounds in the heart took a long time to heal. It was at times like this that his exceptional advice was sorely needed!

Lin Jie placed both hands on his chin, scrutinizing Ji Zhixue. A moment later, he said in a resolute tone: "This will be useful. You have learned to distinguish between your true face and false intentions. You will no longer feel sorry for those who once hurt you because of your past relationships. The pain you are experiencing now will make you wiser than before."

These words were powerful and resonant!

Ji Zhixue looked into Lin Jie's inky, empty eyes, and her breathing involuntarily became heavier.

In the dim, warm light, his eyes seemed to carry some mysterious magic that drew her in. She felt sympathy and partiality in him, as if he were a supreme being who embraced all life and guided people in the right direction. .

It took a while before Ji Zhixue came out of her daze and shook her head vigorously .

She felt that the young man in front of her was plotting to approach her here . At this moment, she had the impression that he was not an enemy, but an ally who wanted to help her deal with a group of hunters....

Hunters who used the foul blood of dream beasts as a source of power were considered evil in the eyes of honest mages. Ji Zhixue concluded that this person did not belong to any of the three factions she had guessed earlier, but rather, he was a high-level magician who hated hunters.

These thugs had an innate command of language and words.

"Then..."

Ji Zhixue gathered her resolve and took a deep breath. "What should I do?"

"Since they behaved inhumanely, there is no need to maintain politeness with them. You can treat them exactly the same way they did to you. Tooth for tooth, eye for eye!" - Lin Jie replied.

He didn't serve the usual chicken soup that stunned the soul. Otherwise, she would have lost her way, making it difficult to keep her as a regular customer.

Faced with scum, one must respond with a strong punch!

His client looked confused at the moment, but as long as he pointed her way, she could free herself from the confusion and take action.

Truly the temperament of a magician !

Ji Zhixue opened the other palm that was hidden under the table . It was drenched in blood . Her lips moved slightly .

...Rejecting my humanity?

She wasn't ready yet, and she wasn't going to go that far.

"First you need to figure out your thoughts and intentions. Only then can you properly prepare yourself."

Lin Jie calmly looked at the pensive woman with a smile.

"I think you might need this book."

It was time for Lin Jie to show his hand, and he smoothly directed the conversation to his wares.

Given the atmosphere, it seemed unwise for him to take a book from the shelves behind him. It would make his intention too obvious.

So, he moved the book he was reading, Confessions .

Ji Zhixue accepted it with a blank expression . There were three words written on the cover, "Blood and Beast" .

She had read many books in her life, but she had never seen this book before .

Was it written by a little-known writer? Furthermore, why had she been given this book as a gift?

Frowning slightly, Ji Zhixue hesitantly opened the book . A moment later, her pupils narrowed and her expression changed.

The page was filled with ancient characters tightly packed together. These ancient hieroglyphs kept distorting, combining and fluctuating. No two strings of characters were the same, but they were strung together to form meaningful sentences. Each of these characters could form thousands of words!

This... taboo knowledge!

The huntress' face was pale and her body was trembling. The information contained within was intimidating, and she felt nauseous.

She immediately closed the book, and it took a huge effort for her to establish her breathing.

The message was already imprinted in her frightened brain.

"Beast Mutation!"
