Lyon didn't go sunbathing.
Before arriving at Kamar-Taj, he had already pushed his body to its limits.
A single arm of his could exert a force of 2.07 million tons.
Even if he spent a few more years sunbathing in the Resident Evil world, the subsequent gains would be negligible.
If earlier sunbathing was like a starving man eating a hearty meal, then now it was like snacking on sunflower seeds after being stuffed—barely worth the effort and even a bit uncomfortable.
Returning to his quarters, Lyon retrieved the Sling Ring that the Ancient One had given him before departing.
The Sling Ring could be used to open portals and assist in communicating with other dimensional realms.
Sitting cross-legged on the bed, he slipped the ring onto his finger and began meditating, preparing himself for the possibility of failure on his first attempt to reach out to a "creditor."
However, the process of borrowing power went incredibly smoothly—so much so that it caught Lyon by surprise.
Ordinarily, this process required immense concentration.
For most sorcerers, learning to use the Sling Ring could take anywhere from several months to several years.
But Lyon was constantly multitasking, managing various superpowers in his daily life.
Focusing his mind was effortless for him.
His consciousness easily entered the dimensional realms.
It was like a piece of raw meat dropping into a swarm of sharks.
As soon as he appeared, countless beings—some eerie, some vast and mysterious—swarmed toward him, desperately eager to make a contract.
The frenzy resembled a group of idle bank managers suddenly noticing a billionaire with an oil field walking in, waving proof of assets, and loudly asking if anyone could help with a loan.
They didn't hesitate for even a second before rushing forward, all vying for a chance to say, "No risk, no loss! Want power? Look at me! Low-interest microloans available!"
Lyon naturally welcomed them all.
No matter the demon or entity that approached, he signed a "loan contract" with every single one—even Dormammu wasn't spared.
Since he had no intention of repaying, he figured he might as well borrow as much as he could.
And given his strength...
Others might need to sacrifice something severe, like a perforated stomach, for just a single spell—take Stephen Strange, for instance.
But Lyon? All it cost him was a few drops of blood or a few strands of hair.
To the dimensional demons, even these were considered valuable magical materials.
When Lyon opened his eyes again, his fingers effortlessly formed a seal. With a flick of his palm, two Bands of Cyttorak appeared.
A slight adjustment to the seal, and the two glowing rings of mystical light transformed into an upgraded Shield of the Seraphim.
This defensive spell was one of the strongest in the core magic of Kamar-Taj.
In Avengers: Endgame, the sorcerers had even used this spell to block energy blasts from Thanos' ship raining down from tens of thousands of meters in the sky.
Lyon adjusted his hand seals again.
The Shield of the Seraphim vanished.
In its place, a golden longsword materialized in his hand—a Sword of Vishanti, specifically designed to vanquish dark entities and dispel black magic.
Lyon continued his practice.
One by one, the orthodox spells of Kamar-Taj appeared in his hands, seamlessly conjured.
It felt as though Lyon was already a seasoned grandmaster of the arcane arts, casually reminiscing about his repertoire of spells during a moment of leisure.
And when he was done with orthodox magic, he still had dark magic at his disposal.
Crossing his hands into a seal, Lyon deliberately conjured a Mirror Dimension.
This more complex spell took him a few seconds to execute.
Prismatic spatial ripples, like delicate veils, quickly enveloped all of Kamar-Taj.
Lyon stepped out of his room and threw a punch.
In the mirrored space, the entirety of Kamar-Taj collapsed instantly, but no damage was reflected in the real world.
This spell created a domain-like space.
Once deployed, it manifested a replica of reality that didn't affect the actual world.
Lyon's attacks didn't stop there.
He kept swinging heavier punches into the air until cracks began to form in the space itself.
"It seems small-scale Mirror Dimensions are relatively easy to break."
"But if it were as vast as a continent, it might be far more difficult to destroy," Lyon concluded, assessing the situation.
He stopped throwing punches and shifted his focus to practicing dark magic.
Mental Corruption Spells, Body Manipulation Spells, Dormammu's Dark Energy...
Lyon had already learned quite a bit of dark magic.
The Ancient One truly lived up to being an open-minded and exceptional teacher.
While she hadn't directly taught him, the books she provided had laid down a complete framework for Lyon to learn magic.
Most importantly, this framework included both white magic and dark magic.
All he needed to do was continuously build upon this foundation to grow rapidly.
The fastest way to do this was to read through all the books stored in Kamar-Taj's library with his super brain.
...
The next morning, on his way to the library, Lyon was stopped by Mordo.
"Mr. Lyon, I heard from the Ancient One that you've already grasped the basics? Your talent is truly astonishing!" Mordo clapped his hands in amazement.
"I'm currently training some novice sorcerers. Would you like to join in? It might help you master the techniques for beginners more quickly."
Mordo believed his teaching methods were effective and thought they might benefit Lyon.
"Thank you, but there's no need for training," Lyon politely declined with a nod.
Lyon didn't offer much explanation. Instead, he formed a hand seal and conjured a Seraphim Shield with a swift motion.
"What is this..?" Mordo was startled by the sudden appearance of the massive energy shield.
"Oh! Seraphim!? But, how is this possible!!"
Mordo felt like he was staring at a monster. "It's only been a day! How could you have possibly learned this!?"
Lyon shrugged. "Well, it's the Ancient One giving me personal tutoring. You know how it is—there's gotta be some results, right?"
"This is the result of personal tutoring?" Mordo's eyes widened. "I've had personal lessons too, but it wasn't like this!"
Lyon patted Mordo's shoulder with a tone of mock sympathy. "Maybe the approach wasn't quite right."
"I'll pass on the training. The Ancient One assigned me quite a few books to read. Let's save the group magic discussions for another time."
"Alright... okay…" Mordo stood there in a daze, watching Lyon walk away.
"Could it be that Superman… even learns magic faster than other men?"
Suddenly struck by a thought, Mordo called out loudly, "Mr. Lyon, the librarian is new and might be a bit rigid, so I ask for your understanding!"
Lyon gave him an "OK" gesture over his shoulder.
A few minutes later, he met the "new librarian" Mordo had mentioned.
"Hello, I'm Wong. The Ancient One has specifically instructed that you may freely access any of the books here," he said, standing up and giving a slight bow.
He appeared to be in his prime, stocky, with a broad face, short eyebrows, and a pair of small eyes that looked unusually stern when widened.
No sooner had Wong greeted Lyon than he immediately began issuing a warning.
"However, I strongly advise against looking at the locked forbidden texts for now."
"They are available to all sorcerers, but very few choose to read them. Not only are they incredibly complex and difficult to understand, but they also contain forbidden powers that could easily lead one astray!"
"The previous librarian, for instance, ended up hanged right here after being led astray by Kaecilius, that traitor who read one of the forbidden texts!"
Lyon nodded, as if fully understanding. "Got it! Rest assured, I promise that if I ever go astray, I won't hang you~"
Wong nodded solemnly, "That's good. If there's any book you can't find later, feel free to ask me... Eh? Wait a minute—did I hear that wrong just now?"
