Chapter 1 - The end is the beginning

China

Shanghai

In a villa with a Chinese-European style, a man with long black hair, beautiful black eyes, and attractive facial features that rival even the most famous models sat on a rocking chair, surrounded by a garden full of every kind of flower.

The man looked sadly at the flower garden he was in, his face showing signs of regret and sorrow.

"It seems that I have failed in the end."

The young man leaned back in the chair and looked at one of the trees with a small smile on his face.

"Have you come to kill me?"

"Yes."

From behind the tree, a person appeared wearing black clothing that covered their face entirely, revealing only green eyes.

The masked figure walked slowly toward the seated man, carrying a short sword. Once the masked figure reached the man, they placed the tip of the sword against his heart, trying to end his life.

"Are there any last words?"

The man raised his eyes to meet his killer's gaze and smiled in a way that made the masked man doubt what he was seeing.

"Well, I have one request."

"If the request is not to kill you, it is rejected."

The man shook his head calmly, took out a black card from his pocket, and spoke in a soft tone.

"My only request is that after you kill me, please bury my body. You can take this card, which contains 50 million dollars."

The killer's eyes flickered for a moment before speaking in a monotone voice, trying to understand what he had heard.

"Is that your request?"

"Yes, I would be grateful if you did that."

A Week Later

In a police car, a man in his thirties with a medium build and a face marked by impatience sat in the driver's seat.

"Damn it, why do I have to work during my off hours too?"

Before the officer could finish his complaint, he opened the front door of the car. Immediately after opening it, a young woman with an angelic face, blue eyes, and long, attractive blonde hair got in.

"Go to Alex's house."

"Are we going to arrest him again, Captain?"

Silence fell for a few moments before the girl spoke in a sorrowful voice full of regret.

"No, not this time."

The man felt something strange hearing her sad tone, but he didn't think much of it and immediately drove toward their destination.

When the officer arrived at the destination—a luxurious mansion with a European-Chinese style—the woman quickly got out and headed straight for the door, starting to ring the bell.

Several minutes passed as the woman rang the bell, but the door remained unopened, which surprised her greatly.

"What's going on? Usually, the door is opened quickly."

The woman waited another minute, but nothing changed, which made her feel a bit frightened. She took a few steps back, drew her gun, and started shooting at the door handle.

"Captain, what are you planning to do?" the officer's anxious voice was interrupted by the sound of gunfire.

< Bang >

< Bang >

The handle was pierced, making the door open easily once pushed. The woman hurried into the mansion, shouting loudly.

"Alex, where are you?"

The woman received no response to her shouting, which made her feel anxious and fearful that something bad had happened to the person she was searching for.

"Alex?"

The officer followed his captain immediately after hearing her shouting echoing throughout the mansion.

"This is strange. Where are the servants?"

"Search the ground floor; I'll check the second floor."

The woman did not wait for the officer's reply and rushed to the second floor, bursting into every room there, trying to find Alex. But she found nothing, so she went back downstairs, hoping that her colleague might find something on the ground floor.

But her hope was dashed when she heard his response that he had found nothing.

"Right, the garden."

Before her anxiety could escalate, the woman remembered the backyard garden that the homeowner took care of, so she hurried there.

~ Creak

The woman pushed open the back door to the garden and saw a garden full of beautiful flowers of every kind. But she didn't care about all these things, only the person sitting in the middle of it on a rocking chair.

"Damn you, Alex. Why didn't you respond when I called you? Are you enjoying ignoring me now?"

The woman walked toward Alex, who was lying on his chair with an angry look on her face, but her heart felt the opposite; she felt relief and peace upon seeing him.

"Are you still trying to ignore me?"

Her anger intensified, and she immediately grabbed Alex's hand, turning his chair to face her so she could see his smiling face and closed eyes. She thought he was asleep, but this possibility was quickly dismissed when she felt the unnatural coldness of his hands.

"Heh, Alex, why are your hands so cold? It seems the weather was cold outside! You shouldn't sleep here; you'll get sick."

The woman shook Alex with her hand, trying to wake him, but nothing worked.

"Alex, come on, wake up. You shouldn't sleep here."

She continued shaking Alex, trying to wake him, but she knew well that it was a futile attempt. Nevertheless, her heart refused to accept this and she continued shaking him and stroking his face with tears streaming down her face.

"Alex, I'm sorry. Please wake up. I promise I won't oppose you again. Please, wake up. I'll do anything. Please, just wake up. Wake up, Alex."

As the woman begged and apologized, the officer entered and saw the situation, immediately realizing what had happened. He took off his hat and spoke the truth that his captain did not want to hear.

"Captain, he's dead."

"Shut up. He hasn't died. He's just asleep!"

The woman spun around quickly, trying again, but was stopped by a voice coming from above one of the trees.

"You've lost."

Both the officer and his captain turned toward the source of the voice and saw a person in black clothing burning dollars with a defeated look on his face.

"His request was to be buried in his garden."

The officer was stunned and immediately pulled out his gun, trying to point it at the person in front of him, but the person had already disappeared amid the sound of gunfire and the captain's shouting.

< Bang … Bang … Bang >

"Stop right there. Who are you?"

The woman's anger surged within her heart, and her eyes cried tears of blood from intense sorrow and rage. The officer, witnessing this, felt a moment of fear and his heart stopped for a beat before it started beating again.

"Immediately, close all roads in Shanghai now!"

"Understood, Captain."

The officer quickly left and took out the radio he had in his pocket, issuing a worried announcement.

"To all police forces in Shanghai, all roads leading out of the city must be closed within thirty minutes."

| Understood and Executing |

The woman stood by Alex's corpse, immediately embracing him and holding him in her arms, crying tears of blood and speaking in a cold, emotionless tone.

"I will kill him… I will kill him… I will kill him...I will kill him… I will kill him… I will kill him… I will kill him… I will kill him…"
