As skeptical as I was, I still leaned in as she instructed.
After closing the distance between us, she suddenly gripped my neck and seductively whispered in my ear," You husband is here. Do you want to see him?"
"P-Pardon?" Shocked, I tried to move away, but her hold on my neck was making it difficult for me to me.
" I said, your husband is here, but I think you heard me the first time, am I correct?" She said, still in a seductive voice, bit this time a tinge of amusement was playing in her tone.
" Did you invite him as well?" I said, feigning curiosity, I was actually nervous because I just didn't get why Ryan would be here, especially since this event was supposed to be available for exclusively ladies. What could Ryan possibly come here for? Did master Evans keep his word and actually force Ryan to come escort me? That would be very embarrassing.
" What do you think?" She said still with a playful tone
" I-I don't know Miss Harley, I am not very good get guessing what the 2nd person is thinking. However, if I may ask, earlier you, after they told you the news of my husband being here, you said that it was "upsetting." May I ask why?" I said, although I don't know why Ryan was here when he was supposed to be on duty, I wanted to find out why she reacted that way earlier, I mean any woman would be curious if not mad if another used the word "upsetting" in the same line as her husband's name, and I was that woman.
Miss Harley let out a melodic laugh and shifted away on her own, but she did not say anything else. She used her gloved hand to beckon for me to follow her.
Looking at her departing back, I was contemplating as to whether I should follow her or not, but after our little interaction, I felt like I didn't like Miss Harley.
Regardless, curiosity got the better of me as I ended up following her. However, by the time I decided to imshe was already gone but I saw were she had gone through so I simply followed that path. It looked like some secret passage to a place. Just as I thought it wouldn't get any creepier, a garden wall appeared just ahead. It looked worse than the one at the Duke's residence. But I did not stop or turn back, I continued walking and eventually I saw a familiar figure.
" So ypu decided to follow me in the end." She said without looking at me
" Well, you are the host. If you say something within my capabilities, then why wouldn't i try to accomplish it?" I used polished words here to be polite, but I really did not mean a word I said. I was sarcastic, and I hoped she would notice it.
She laughed and said, " Oh, you flatter me, Miss Charlotte. Would you also drop dead for me just because I am the host today?" I guess she noted my sarcasm because she shot back with a shot of her own.
Seeing that I was silent, she laughed again and said, " It's only a joke, Miss Charlotte,lighten up."
I ignored her comment and got straight to the point, " You mentioned my husband..." I trailed off
" Oh, yes. Be patient, Miss Charlotte. I guess I learned two things about you today." She continued changing the topic again
" Which are?" I said as I decided to humor her
" You have no sense of humor, and you are impatient."
That ws it, I really disliked this woman. First impressions meant everything. After all, and my gut feeling wasn't wrong, she had a twisted personality. What did her supporters see in her?
" Oh, right in the nick of time." She spoke up again. As she commented, she was looking in a specific direction, and following the direction she was looking, I was shocked.
It was indeed Ryan. But the most shocking was that he was in military attire and behind him, followed ten armed man also in armor
