Chapter 95: Su Yun Treats Dugu Yan, Dugu Bo Suffers Backlash
"Brother Su Yun, can you do it?" Ning Rongrong looked at Su Yun, batting her big, captivating eyes. She appeared like a foolish princess waiting to be saved by a knight, evoking a sense of pity.
Su Yun grandly gestured and replied, "Of course, there's no problem. When Sect Master Ning makes a request, I'm naturally willing to help. We'll be staying in Heaven Dou City for a few days. If I have time tomorrow, I will visit the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect."
Ning Fengzhi, hearing this, couldn't hide his joy at his successful plan and said heartily, "That would be wonderful. The disciple of the Pope visiting our sect is indeed a big event. Tomorrow, our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect will certainly welcome you with open arms."
Ning Fengzhi's plan was simple: get his daughter Ning Rongrong close to Su Yun, gradually occupy a place in his heart, and eventually pull him into their sect. The history shows that many heroes have fallen for beauty, and there's a reason for that.
After an evening of toasting and mingling, the banquet finally concluded. The members from both sects took some time to sober up before leaving the venue.
Ning Fengzhi and the two Douluo from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect walked ahead, while Su Yun and Ning Rongrong followed behind.
"Su Yun, big brother, I didn't expect you to be so powerful. You're the same age as me but already at the 32nd level of soul power. How did you train?" Ning Rongrong asked with admiring eyes, a typical trick of hers to pretend to idolize a boy and soon turn him into her follower.
However, Su Yun didn't react to her words. Instead, he seemed to sense something else and communicated inwardly, "Sister Yin, do you feel it?"
"Yes, it feels like the toxin released by the Title Douluo Dugu Bo," replied Ah Yin, the Blue Silver Emperor's true form, whose perception was slightly stronger than Su Yun's.
Just then, Ah Yin urgently spoke again, "Su Yun, it's in the room on your left. Dugu Bo's toxin is erupting!"
Without hesitation, Su Yun kicked open the door to the left and rushed in.
Ning Rongrong, initially irritated at Su Yun's indifference, was shocked to see him suddenly kick open a door and rush in.
Ning Fengzhi and the four Title Douluo turned back at Ning Rongrong's exclamation. They saw Ning Rongrong standing alone on the stairs, with Su Yun nowhere in sight.
"Rongrong, where is Su Yun?" asked Ning Fengzhi.
"Brother Su Yun just kicked open that door and went in," Ning Rongrong pointed to the broken door.
At that moment, sensing something, the four Title Douluo's expressions changed and they rushed into the room, followed by Ning Fengzhi and Ning Rongrong.
Inside, they found Su Yun treating Dugu Yan, and saw a pale-faced Dugu Bo, as well as Yu Yuanzhen, Yu Luomei, and Yu Tianheng from the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan.
"Brother Yuanzhen, what happened here?" Ning Fengzhi asked, being from one of the top three sects.
Yu Yuanzhen shared the events of the evening: it was meant to be an engagement party for Yu Tianheng and Dugu Yan, but Dugu Yan's toxins suddenly erupted. Dugu Bo tried to suppress the toxins in her body, while Yu Yuanzhen formed a barrier with his soul power to prevent the toxins from spreading.
Ah Yin detected Dugu Yan's toxin eruption because her toxin had mutated compared to Dugu Bo's. Despite Dugu Bo's considerable soul power, he struggled against this challenging toxin and ultimately failed. Had Su Yun not arrived at the critical moment, Dugu Yan might have succumbed to the toxin.
In the center of the room, Dugu Yan was seated cross-legged, her upper clothing removed, revealing her fair skin and flawless back. However, a tiny greenish phosphorescent snake, akin to a tattoo, stretched from her back to her neck, creating a palpably unsettling sight.
Her body was uncontrollably emitting a greenish soul power. If not for the barrier set up by Yu Yuanzhen, these toxins would have already spread throughout the entire Drunken Cloud Tower.
Behind Dugu Yan, Su Yun's Blue Silver Emperor grass had already rooted in the ground. Numerous strands of Blue Silver grass, outlined with golden patterns, surrounded her, gently dissolving the greenish soul power with their soothing life force. Many branches and leaves of the Blue Silver Emperor tree were attached to Dugu Yan's smooth skin, continually absorbing the toxins erupting from her body while continuously transferring life force to heal her internal injuries.
"This spirit, so similar to the Blue Silver grass, exudes a sense of nobility far beyond it," observed Yu Yuanzhen. "The life force it contains is unprecedented and unseen before."
"Is this disciple of the Pope's perhaps possessing a spirit not inferior to our top three sects' spirits?" wondered Ning Fengzhi, impressed by the scene created by the Blue Silver Emperor tree in the room.
He even thought that if Su Yun's spirit could be widely inherited, it wouldn't be surprising if another top sect emerged on the Douluo Continent in the future.
Chrysanthemum Douluo Yueguan chuckled, "If you want to know more, just ask him directly."
Since both Chrysanthemum Douluo and Gui Douluo chose not to speak, everyone else waited for Su Yun's treatment to conclude. However, the process was lengthy.
An hour later, it became apparent that the intensity of Dugu Yan's toxin eruption was diminishing.
"It seems this young lady's spirit has mutated due to the toxins," deduced Sword Douluo, identifying the nature of Dugu Yan's sudden toxin eruption.
"Her spirit evolved prematurely," said Yu Yuanzhen. "It's stronger than expected, but her soul power level and resistance to toxins are inadequate to support this evolution. Even if the evolution is successful, she will suffer from severe toxicity for the rest of her life."
Bone Douluo looked at Dugu Bo, who was recovering in a corner, and commented, "Old Poison, I'm surprised to see you poisoned yourself."
Dugu Bo opened his eyes and coldly responded, "If you can't speak wisely, then stay silent."
Bone Douluo retorted, "Just stating the truth. If it weren't for Su Yun, your precious granddaughter would have been gone by now."
Dugu Bo's expression stiffened, and then he looked complexly at Su Yun, who was treating his granddaughter. He hadn't expected her spirit to evolve so soon. This evolution, beneficial for most, was a curse for their unique Bi-Phosphorous Snake spirit. The evolved spirit was stronger, but the toxicity also increased.
Dugu Bo suffered a backlash from his own toxins while trying to save Dugu Yan. Bone Douluo was right โ without Su Yun, both he and Dugu Yan would have faced grave danger.
"Phew!" With a sigh, Su Yun finally ended the treatment, and the Blue Silver Emperor trees that filled the room receded back into his spirit.
"How is she?" asked the Title Douluo present.
Su Yun nodded, "Luckily, I arrived in time. If the toxins had reached her heart, even I couldn't have saved her."
Dugu Yan's back, once covered with the terrifying greenish Bi-Phosphorous snake, now bore a tiny tattoo-like version of the snake on her left neck โ small yet unnerving.
Hearing Su Yun's words, Dugu Bo sighed in relief, but the next sentence made his heart sink.
"However, her body won't be able to withstand these toxins for much longer."
