Chapter 54 - HER MOTHER'S MEDICAL REPORT

Mark's eyes widened as Diana recounted her encounter with the mysterious old man. He could see the fear and determination in her eyes.

Their heart collided on one motive, which is to visit the hospital and check their records to know the cause of her mother's death but Diana changed their plans.

"Let's get to the bottom of this," Mark said, his voice firm. "Where can we find your mother's medical report?"

Diana thought for a moment. "I think my father has it. He's been keeping secrets from me, Mark. I know it."

Mark nodded. "Okay, let's go talk to him. But Diana, be prepared for anything. We don't know what we're up against."

Diana steeled herself and nodded. Together, they headed to Diana's father's house, a sense of trepidation hanging in the air.

As they arrived, Diana's father opened the door, a look of surprise on his face. "Diana, Mark, what's going on?"

Diana took a deep breath. "We need to see my mother's medical report. Now."

Her father hesitated, before stepping aside. "Okay, it's in my study. But Diana, be warned, the truth... it's not easy to handle."

Diana's heart raced as she followed her father into the study. Mark stayed close behind, his eyes scanning the room.

As they reached the desk, Diana's father handed her a folder. She opened it, and her eyes scanned the pages. Suddenly, she gasped.

"What is it?" Mark asked, his voice urgent.

Diana looked up, her eyes wide with shock. "My mother was poisoned. The report says it was an accident, but... I know it wasn't."

As they left Diana's father's house, the tension between them was palpable. Diana's mind was racing with questions and suspicions. She couldn't believe her father had kept this secret from her for so long.

Mark noticed her distress and put a comforting arm around her shoulders. "We'll get to the bottom of this, Diana. I promise."

When they arrived at the mansion, Diana went straight to her room, feeling overwhelmed. Mark followed her, sitting down beside her on the bed.

"Diana, I know this is a lot to take in. But I'm here for you. We'll figure this out together," Mark said, his voice soft and reassuring.

Diana looked at him, her eyes welling up with tears. "I don't know what I'd do without you, Mark. You're the only one I can trust."

Mark pulled her into a hug, holding her close. "You'll never have to find out, Diana. I'll always be here for you."

As they hugged, Diana felt a sense of determination wash over her. She was going to uncover the truth about her mother's death, no matter what it took. And with Mark by her side, she knew she could face anything.

"I've taken a closer look at the medical report, and there are some discrepancies that raise red flags. The toxicology report shows high levels of a rare poison, but the attending physician's notes suggest it was an accidental overdose.

However, the symptoms described don't quite match the expected effects of that particular poison. It's almost as if... the poison was tailored to mimic an accident.

I've also noticed that the medical team that treated Diana's mother was unusual. The lead physician has a questionable reputation, and one of the nurses has a history of disciplinary actions.

Furthermore, the report mentions a 'consultant' who was present during the treatment, but there's no further information about this individual. Who were they, and what was their role?

I suspect foul play, and I believe Diana's mother was murdered. But I need more evidence to prove it. I'll keep digging, but this report has definitely raised some suspicions."

"I've been digging deeper, and I think I've uncovered a crucial piece of information. Larry and Jefferson, Diana's father, are not acting alone. They have subordinates, people who are helping them cover up the truth.

I've found a trail of encrypted messages between Larry and an unknown number. The messages mention 'Echelon' and 'The Syndicate.' I believe these are codenames for a larger organization, one that's been hiding in plain sight.

It appears that Larry and Jefferson are just pawns in a much larger game. They're taking orders from someone higher up, someone who's pulling the strings.

I've also discovered that several key witnesses and medical staff members have been intimidated or bribed into silence. This suggests a level of sophistication and resources that goes beyond just two individuals.

Diana, I think we're dealing with a conspiracy that goes far beyond your family's secrets. We need to be careful, as we're now dealing with a potentially dangerous and powerful organization."

"I've managed to crack the encryption on the messages, and it's led me to a shocking discovery. The subordinate I mentioned earlier, it's someone close to Diana's father, Jefferson. Someone he trusts.

The messages mention a person codenamed 'Nova', who's been feeding Jefferson and Larry information about Diana's investigation. I believe Nova is none other than... Larry's personal assistant, Victoria.

But what's even more shocking is that Victoria is actually Larry's daughter. I think Larry has been using her to gather intel and pass it on to Echelon.

It seems Larry is more deeply embroiled in this conspiracy than I initially thought. And with Victoria's involvement, it's clear that Larry will stop at nothing to keep his secrets safe.

Diana, we need to be careful. Larry's reach is further than we thought, and we can't trust anyone in his inner circle."

"I've managed to track Victoria's movements, and it seems she's not in New York anymore. She's in France, specifically in the south of France, in a small town called Saint-Tropez.

I believe she's hiding something there, possibly evidence or even a person. I've hacked into her communication channels, and she's been in contact with someone codenamed 'Rouge'.

I think Rouge might be a key player in Echelon, possibly even the mastermind behind the conspiracy. And Victoria's presence in France suggests that the truth we're seeking might be hidden there.

Diana, I think it's time for us to take a trip to France. We need to confront Victoria and find out what she's hiding. And if we're lucky, we might just catch a glimpse of Rouge and uncover the truth once and for all."

If we can get to Victoria she will reveal where her father has fled to.
