Mark and Alex burst into the room, guns blazing, taking down the guards with swift precision. Diana joined the fight, her sharp object flashing in the dim light.
Together, the trio fought off the guards, their movements a well-choreographed dance of combat. But as they fought, they couldn't shake off the feeling that they were being watched.
When the last guard fell, they turned to each other, panting, and swept the room with their eyes. But Larry Johnson was nowhere to be seen.
"Where is he?" Diana demanded, her eyes scanning the shadows.
Mark shook his head. "I don't know, but we need to find him. Now."
Alex nodded, his eyes locked on the door. "I'll take point. Let's move."
The three of them moved swiftly through the chateau, clearing room after room, but there was no sign of Larry. It was as if he had vanished into thin air.
As they reached the foyer, they heard a faint noise coming from outside. They exchanged a look, and then burst through the front doors, guns at the ready.
But what they saw made their blood run cold. Larry's helicopter was lifting off, disappearing into the night sky.
"No!" Diana screamed, her fists clenched in frustration.
Mark's face set in a grim determination. "We'll get him. I promise."
Alex nodded, his eyes locked on the disappearing helicopter. "We'll hunt him down, no matter what it takes."
Diana's hands shook with rage as she raised the gun and started firing at the helicopter. She could see Larry's smug face through the window, and she wanted nothing more than to wipe it off the earth.
But no matter how many bullets she fired, she couldn't seem to hit the helicopter. It was as if Larry had a shield of protection around him.
Mark and Alex grabbed her arms, pulling her back as the helicopter soared higher into the sky.
"Diana, stop! You're wasting ammo!" Mark yelled.
But Diana was beyond reason. She struggled against their grip, her eyes fixed on the helicopter.
"I'll get him! I'll kill him!" she screamed.
Alex tried to calm her down. "Diana, we'll get him another time. We need to come up with a plan."
But Diana was inconsolable. She had been so close to finally getting her revenge, and now Larry was slipping away once again.
As the helicopter disappeared into the distance, Diana's anger turned to despair. She slumped to the ground, the gun slipping from her fingers.
Mark and Alex stood over her, their faces etched with concern.
"We'll get him, Diana," Mark promised. "We'll make sure he pays for what he's done."
But Diana just shook her head, her eyes empty.
"I'll never stop until he's dead," she whispered.
Mark and Alex helped Diana to her feet, and together they made their way back to their hotel. They moved swiftly and silently, scanning their surroundings for any signs of danger.
Once they reached the hotel, they burst through the door, locking it behind them. Diana collapsed onto the bed, her body shaking with exhaustion and adrenaline.
Mark and Alex stood guard, their eyes fixed on the door, waiting for any sign of Larry's men. But the room remained quiet, the only sound Diana's ragged breathing.
Finally, Mark turned to Alex and nodded. "We need to get her out of here. It's not safe."
Alex agreed, and together they made arrangements for a secure transport to take Diana to a safe house.
As they waited, Diana's eyes flickered open. She looked up at Mark and Alex, her gaze unfocused.
"Thank you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Mark smiled, his eyes softening. "We're not going to let anything happen to you, Diana. We promise."
Diana's eyes closed again, and this time, she fell into a deep sleep. Mark and Alex stood watch, their eyes never leaving her face, as they waited for the transport to arrive.
As they arrived at the safe house, Mark noticed that Diana was limping. At first, he thought it was just exhaustion, but as they helped her out of the car, he saw a dark stain spreading across her pant leg.
"Diana, you're bleeding!" Mark exclaimed, his voice laced with concern.
Alex rushed to her side, and together they gently lifted her pant leg. A bullet wound marred her skin, blood oozing from the hole.
"When did this happen?" Alex demanded, his eyes scanning her body for any other injuries.
Diana winced, her face pale. "I...I don't know. I think it was when we were escaping."
Mark's face set in a grim expression. "We need to get her to a doctor, now."
Alex nodded, and they quickly carried Diana inside, laying her on a couch. Mark grabbed a first aid kit, while Alex called for a medic.
As Mark cleaned and dressed the wound, Diana's eyes fluttered open. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "I didn't mean to slow you down."
Mark's expression softened. "You're not slowing us down, Diana. We're in this together."
The medic arrived soon after, and Diana received further treatment. But as they tended to her wound, Mark couldn't shake off the feeling that they were far from safe. Larry Johnson was still out there, and he wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted.
Diana's eyes fluttered open, and she gazed up at Mark with a hint of amusement. "Hey, did you hire a new guard?" she asked, her voice husky from sleep.
Mark raised an eyebrow, confused. "What do you mean?"
Diana nodded towards Alex, who was sitting in a chair, eyes fixed intently on her. "Him. He's been staring at me like I'm a priceless artifact. I'm starting to feel like I'm in a museum."
Alex chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Hey, someone's got to keep an eye on you. You're a trouble magnet."
Diana laughed, wincing slightly as she shifted her leg. "Hey, that's not fair. I'm a charming and delightful person."
Mark smiled, relieved to see Diana's spirits lifting. "Well, you're definitely charming. And delightful. But also a bit of a handful."
Diana grinned, her eyes sparkling. "Hey, that's what makes life interesting, right?"
The three of them shared a laugh, and for a moment, the danger and tension seemed to fade away. But Mark knew it was only a temporary reprieve. They still had to deal with Larry Johnson, and the threat he posed to Diana's life.
