I woke up from my sleep and looked around in confusion, trying to recall something. "What am I doing today?" I sat up, thinking then my mom entered my room, "Hey get ready, we are still going to Mrs. Jung house today."
Then she left immediately, leaving a very half awake me alone, "Oh, I remember now." I got up from my bed, and went to my bathroom to get ready, hoping that I won't fall asleep when I peeing.
After bathing, I settled for black pleated skirt with a long sleeved white sweetheart neck top, and some Mary Jane's platform shoes with a creamed colored stockings.
I kept my afro in a high bun and walked out of my room, going downstairs to meet my mom who was already waiting for me, "I'm ready."
"You're looking good, too bad there's no boy to impress." My mom said with a chuckle.. I rolled my eyes, and followed her to her car.
It was just a 50 minutes drive to UN village . Her house was big, I bet she has a room that she just lives white for just the aesthetics.
A lady and a teenage girl was standing outside of the house, waiting for us to get down from our car. Getting down, we walked over to them.
"Hey Lola, how are you?" She hugged my mom before she let her go and the teenage girl bowed in respect to my mom, then to me, which I reciprocated.
"This is my daughter, Ha ri."Mrs. Jung said bringing her daughter forward. "She's so pretty." My mom complimented. She also brought me forward, "This is my daughter, Ji seo." I bowed.
"Wow, she's so beautiful." Mrs. Jung commented and I thanked her before she grabbed my mom by the hand and led her inside like a high school teenager that wants to tell her best friend about her crush.
Ha ri walked me inside, "Nice to meet you. I really like your fashion sense." She said with a smile.
"Thanks, you too." I said looking at her outfit. Her casual outfit screamed rich. She smiled and pulled me pass the living room and I could see Mrs. Jung and my mum chatting away on the couch.
"They were friends since college but your mum had to go back to Nigeria for some mandatory service." She said while taking me to her room.
"Yeah, NYSC." I nodded. "Is it like a military thing or something?" She said, opening her door and letting me into her room.
"Yeah, something like that." I looked around, "Your room is very pretty."
"Thanks. So about the military thing... Is it both genders?" She asked, walking past me to sit on her bed then tapped the spot next to her, wanting me to seat and I did.
"Yeah." I nodded. She opened her mouth in shock, "Wow, in Korea, only the guys go for the service," She said in shock before she gasped, "Wait, do girls shave their hair?!"
"Eh? No! Why should they?" I said, cut off guard by her question.
"Oh... Sorry." She giggled in embarrassment. I joined her. "So, have you gotten admission into a school here?" She asked.
"Yeah. I got into a school on a full scholarship." I said with a nod. "Wow, then you must be really smart. What's the name?" She asked with curiosity.
"Eva High school." As soon as the name left my lips, Ha ri frowned. "That's my school." She said, her voice down.
"You don't sound happy." I said, furrowing my brows in confusion. "No, I'm happy that you're going to my school but it's just that..." She trailed off, getting up from the bed and started pacing.
"Just that what?" I said in confusion, my eyes following her as she paced around. "It's not that I'm not happy that we are going to the same school, but it's just that my school is filled with spoilt rich brats." She let out in frustration and sat back on the bed.
I stared at her, waiting for her to elaborate more. She sighed, "Okay, so my school has this weird pyramidal system, and you know how a pyramid looks like right?" She asked me with a raised brow and I nodded.
"Okay so, the pyramid has 4 layers. At the top of the pyramid, we have the Alphas; they are the students who are heirs to their family companies and they probably have their own companies that are signed to their names. Then there is the Betas; they are the shareholders of companies, but they are not taking over that company. Then we have the Gammas; Their parents are politicians, well known doctors, well-known lawyers and they might probably follow their parents footsteps. Then lastly, we have the Omegas; They are kids who get into the school on honor or by scholarship, and that is where you are Ji eo." She said, zoning out in fear.
I stayed silent for a while, "There's nothing wrong with being an Omega right?" I asked. She looked at me with pity before she stood up again and began pacing around her room, "Oh, trust me when I say it's bad."
"How bad?" "Well, the students will give you a hard time in school. They won't physically bully you though because they might can in trouble if the authorities find out." She explained.
"So, like verbal bullying?" I asked with a raised brow. Ha ri looked at me with pity before nodding her head. I grinned before I burst out with laughter.
"Why are you laughing?" She said, shaking my shoulders. I stopped laughing and looked up at her, "You really think I would bat an eye to their Verbal bullying? I am Nigerian. I've been verbally bullied since birth by my own family so what can your classmates do?" I asked trying not laugh.
She shook her head at me and gave a light chuckle. "Wait, my dad is a surgeon though. Does that make me a Gamma?" I suddenly asked.
Ha ri thought for a while before she finally spoke up, "Oh... Then that makes you the first Gamma that has ever been in our school on scholarship."
"How many Omegas are in your school anyway?" "One." She answered with a straight face. I laughed thinking that she was joking until I noticed how serious she looked.
"Oh you're serious. What category are you in anyways?" "I'm an alpha. I will inherit my mom's company and I also have a sub-company that is under her company that specializes in streetwear." She said with pride.
I stared at her in surprise, "Really? Wow, that's so cool." "Yeah, that reminds me!" She suddenly yelled then turned to me with a mischievous grin.
I leaned back, "What?" She kept looking at me with that grin before she got up and started pacing the room again before she stopped in front of me.
"I need you to do something for me." She aid, kneeling suddenly. I leaned back again with wide eye, "What?"
"I need you to be a model for my brand. It's really going to help you more than it helps me." She explained.
"How?" "Well, since you are a Gamma you need something strong backing you up like modelling for one of the biggest fashion brands in Korea." She said smiling widely.
"But I already have a part time job at my grandmother's restaurant." After the word left my mouth Ha ri stared at me in shock.
"Wow, you really want your life to be over, don't you Ji seo. Anyways, the modelling career would be a very good cover up, so you don't need the students wondering about that." She sighed.
I nodded, "Okay, deal." Then I shook her hand. "We have to tell our moms first." Then she took my hands and we went downstairs where our moms were.
"Mom, I just had the mot smartest idea ever." Ha ri said to her mom with excitement. Her mom stopped what she was doing and focused on us, "Okay, let' have it."
"Ji seo should be our teen model and she'll catch a lot of attention since she's a foreigner."
"Oh, you're right. Great idea My dear. She has a really nice skin. It's perfect. Don't you think Lola?" She said turning to my mom.
My mom nodded with a smile, "Dara is really pretty. She can help bring the competition down."
"Oh yes. They won't see this coming. With Dara modelling for us, other companies would see us as trend setters." Mrs. Jung squealed.
"I feel used." I said with a sigh. "I heard from your mom that you got into Ha ri's school on scholarship. You mut be really smart." Mrs. Jung complimented.
I nodded, "But I'm not good in Math though." I whispered, Ha ri moved closer to me and said in a low whisper, "Me too."
We looked at each other and chuckled before going back upstairs to Ha ri's room.
"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you one more important details about my school. Stay away from Jeon Arin, Min Taemin, and Kim Min Ho then you'll be safe." She said in a serious tone which gave me goosebumps.
