Chapter 48 - Chapter 48

Jack's voice was laced with conviction. "She won't say anything."

Aria's gaze never wavered, but she removed the dagger from Sara's neck.

Sara's smile twisted, her eyes gleaming with malice. "I'm happy to see you all in pain."

Her voice dripped with satisfaction. "Even if you arrest me, you won't be able to solve the puzzle."

Aria's eyes narrowed.

Sara's smile grew. "Your worst enemy is back, someone you know very well."

Her laughter sent chills down their spines.

"But you won't figure out who it is."

Aria's face set in determination. She placed the dagger back on Sara's neck, tightening her grip.

Sara's smile faltered.

"Come face us," Aria dared, dragging Sara's hair. "Why hide like a coward, sending others to do your dirty work?"

Sara's eyes flashed with surprise.

She realized Aria was smarter than she thought.

With a pleased smile, Sara decided to keep quiet.

Just then, Leo burst in with the police officers.

"Hands behind your back," an officer ordered, dragging Sara's hands behind her.

Handcuffs clicked into place.

Sara's smile returned, her eyes glinting.

"You haven't won yet," she said, her voice dripping with menace. "This is just the beginning."

Aria's hand twitched, ready to slap Sara.

But Jack grasped her hand, his eyes locking onto hers.

"Let go," he whispered.

Aria's anger simmered, but she restrained herself.

The police dragged Sara out, her laughter echoing through the hospital corridors.

As they watched her leave, Jack's grip on Aria's hand tightened.

"We'll figure it out," he promised.

Aria's gaze never left Sara's retreating form.

"We will," she vowed.

The hospital room fell silent, tension lingering.

But amidst the uncertainty, one thing was clear:

The game had just begun.

Aria's knees sank into the hospital floor, her body wracked with sobs. She grasped Jack's leg, her hands trembling.

Jack's smile was weak, his eyes welling up with tears. He looked at Aria, his gaze filled with empathy.

Aria's face buried in Jack's lap, her tears soaking through the hospital trouser. She couldn't stop crying.

The family exchanged glances, sensing the moment's intimacy. They quietly rose from their seats, their footsteps soft as they exited the room.

The door clicked shut behind them, leaving Jack and Aria alone.

Tears dropped from Jack's eyes as he stroked Aria's hair. His touch was gentle, reassuring.

"Aria, it's okay," he whispered, his voice cracking.

But Aria held him tighter, her arms wrapping around his waist. She refused to let go.

Jack's hands cradled her head, his fingers tangling in her hair.

The only sound was Aria's muffled sobs, Jack's gentle whispers.

Dr. Thompson entered the room, her presence calm and authoritative. "Aria, sweetie, sit on the bed."

Aria slowly released Jack, her eyes red-rimmed. She nodded, wiping her tears.

Dr. Thompson's team surrounded Aria, their movements efficient and gentle.

Aria's gaze never left Jack's face.

Dr. Thompson stepped outside, addressing the family. "You can all go home now. They're doing fine."

Mrs. Hilda's face relaxed, relief etched on her features.

Dr. Thompson handed her a white leather bag. "Aria's medicines are inside. And for Jack, get him a physiotherapist for daily exercises."

Mrs. Hilda took the bag, her eyes grateful.

Dr. Thompson's expression turned optimistic. "Jack's condition isn't permanent. It's treatable, but recovery will take time."

The family's faces lit up with hope.

Mrs. Hilda turned back, her voice filled with determination. "We'll get through this together."

The hospital room door closed behind them.

Aria returned to Jack's side, snuggling into his warmth.

Jack wrapped his arms around her, holding tight.

For a moment, they just breathed.

Their hearts still, their love unbroken.

As they held each other, the world outside receded.

Only the two of them existed.

In this fragile, hopeful moment.

Leo stepped up to the hospital reception desk, his wallet in hand. He settled the bill with a quiet efficiency, his expression a mix of relief and exhaustion.

Meanwhile, the family gathered around Aria and Jack, their faces etched with concern.

Aria grasped Jack's hand, her touch warm and reassuring. "Let's get you home," she said softly.

Jack nodded, his eyes locked on hers.

Ivy hovered nearby, ready to assist. "Do you need help with the wheelchair?" she asked.

Aria shook her head. "I've got him."

With gentle care, Aria raised Jack from the wheelchair. He winced, his leg throbbing in protest.

Aria's hands supported him, her arms wrapping around his waist. Together, they moved toward the car, their pace slow and deliberate.

Ivy folded the wheelchair, stowing it in the trunk with a soft clunk.

Daniel opened the car door, holding it wide for Aria and Jack.

Aria helped Jack into the backseat, settling him comfortably.

She slid in beside him, holding his hand.

Daniel and Ivy occupied the front seats, their faces reflected in the rearview mirror.

Daniel started the engine, the car purring to life.

As they pulled away from the hospital, Aria rested her head on Jack's shoulder.

Across the street, a figure watched from the shadows.

A woman in a black veil, her face hidden.

Her eyes gleamed with malice, her smile a thin, cruel line.

The car disappeared into the distance, leaving the woman alone.

She stood motionless, her eyes narrowing.

Her smile lingered, a cold, calculated promise.

The game was far from over.
