At the police station.
The visiting room.
Liu Huimin lifted her skirt and sat down slowly.
She looked up and saw that the man opposite her was still wearing a suit, but his beard was scruffy. Xu Guangyao was a clean person, and he had never shown such a slovenly side before.
He looked as though he had not slept all night, his face etched with fatigue.
Upon seeing her, the corners of his mouth twitched into a faint smile, "You've come after all, to see how miserably I've been ruined by your Liu Family?"
"It's your own doing."
Liu Huimin steadied her voice as she said, "Our Liu Family has done nothing to wrong you."
Xu Guangyao shrugged and said, "Perhaps."
He leaned in closer, "Huimin, if it weren't for your family's interference, we could have been very happy."
He was a man who valued face and had a strong sense of pride.
He could not bear others calling him a kept man or a phoenix man behind his back, nor could he tolerate the Liu Family's criticism and contempt.
