The next day.
Qiao Xi got up very early, with dark circles under her eyes and red bloodshot in them. She helped Grandma Qiao prepare breakfast, and only then did she go back to her room to call Huo Xingzhou.
She saw that Huo Xingzhou had already washed up.
"Mr. Huo, breakfast is ready. After eating, I'll take you next door to Grandpa Cheng's house. His medical skills are excellent, much better than mine," she said.
Huo Xingzhou paused for a moment, looking at her before saying, "Okay."
He maneuvered his wheelchair and started moving out.
Qiao Xi shook out the blankets and arranged the bedsheet and pillows. Her hand felt a hard little box, and she picked it up with curiosity, her eyes widening in shock.
She quickly stuffed it back in, pretending to have seen nothing.
"Xixi, come and have breakfast quickly," Grandma Qiao called out.
"Alright, I'm coming."
Qiao Xi walked out of the room, sat at the square table, and ate her porridge and salted duck eggs with a distracted air.
