"If you can do me this favor, I'll appreciate it," Jaden said, his forehead creased with worry as he watched Rafael.
Rafael, the receiver of the words, didn't even bother to behave as though he had heard him. He just walked past Jaden to the kitchen, grabbed a cup, then opened the fridge and took out some water.
He walked back to the dining table, sat down, and poured himself a glass before taking a gulp. Rafael drank the water as though his life depended on it, and after he was done, he finally felt ready to face Jaden.
He looked at Jaden once more. The disheveled figure could inspire pity, but Rafael's mind was far from that.
"I've never run that far in my life," Rafael said after steadying his breathing.
Jaden looked surprised as he raised his head, a confused expression on his face. "You've never run before?"
"Are you seriously asking me that?" Rafael said, covering his face with his palm in frustration.
