Chapter 62 - [Chapter —62]

Running out of the foliage with my technique Flora Perception I frowned running towards the camp.

I had thought that something incredibly bad would have happened to have Raven radio me, something like the grounders attacking when we were just in between peace talks.

But no, I could sense what I had started assuming was lifeforce that every living thing seemed to be embodied in.

I didn't see or find anything out of the norm except that everyone was moving weirdly, but this was through my flora perception so I didn't know orwouldn'tt know till I entered.

And so as I stopped right at the gates I raised an eyebrow at the fact that nobody was guarding it.

Just as I was about to open it by myself it slowly started opening, and in the small opening Raven and Octavia walked out.

" Good, you're here, we have a problem...." Muttered Raven quickly.

" What's going on?" I asked walking towards them.

—[Pov Shift/Clarke Griffin]—

Having opened the gates to the walls after a hunter noticed us that they had seen Ezekiel rushing towards the camp we found him staring at us confusedly looking at the camp.

His eyes darted through the camp walls as if he could see through them, this was one of the things that he did that we never really asked him about just taking it as if it was something that the fruits granted him.

The fruit had given all those who ate them incredible capabilities, even I who ate the most out of the others gained a lot.

Strength enough to lift what would need at least 4 people in the least to lift, increased perception allowing me to track my surroundings and react using the speeds granted alongside these other capabilities.

With the fruit, I went from struggling to even landing a hit on Octavia on our occasional spars that I had her give me to catch up with the others as I wasn't focused on being a warrior or fighter like most of the others.

Thus I went from not being able to land a hit on her to being able to fight on even ground with her even though I knew that I was physically better than her, she kept up with me with skill and cunning and used every hand she could gain to win.

Octavia was the best at fighting out of all of us, Bellamy was second and so on, I wanted to catch up to them eventually so I asked Octavia to spar and train with me.

And in the time that we had started I had already seen improvements in my capabilities, I even gained a friend out of her, more than just simply tolerating each other.

She was extremely overprotective over Ezekiel though, she once knocked out a guy who was talking shit about him due to the girl he liked having had a crush on Ezekiel.

But things like that started receding more and more when the story of Dax was told by the guards and hunters that had gone with Ezekiel and Raven.

And now staring at that boy I couldn't help but frown.

I couldn't see it. The cold-hearted monster that is said to have made Dax scream for an hour before killing him, in front of me was someone else.

He was a friend, someone I can always count on seeing from the things he has already taught and granted us, he was someone who cared for us and mostly someone who held the greatest burden out of all of us.

His burden stemmed from those he cared for.

I mean look at Raven, yes she was my friend and I could understand her anger to a point about Finn and his punishment but it could have gone even worse in my opinion.

Ezekiel had given her a choice and a way out instead of simply doing away with Finn and calling it a day.

She is just too mad and emotional at the moment to see that, but hopefully, she would snap out of it before she truly eliated Ezekiel.

Because as much of a nice person I thought Ezekiel was, he was still our leader and wouldn't hesitate rid of anything that would harm those he cared for, which is the only reason he probably still kept Finn alive in the first place.

I had already talked with Raven, heck we had even hit it off and became friends even over the fact that me and Finn had a brief situationship, she didn't hold it against me after I had come clean to her.

She did ignore it completely though, probably in the hope that she and Finn would go back to what they used to, that didn't happen though.

Finn had spent most of the time Raven got down to the ground being a nuisance not only to everyone in the camp but even Raven.

Most of the time he was undermining Ezekiel's authority which didn't earn him any friends in the camp or sympathisers. Any other time he had was used to going out into the woods, getting drunk or trying to talk to me, but that hadn't worked out for a plethora of reasons.

Ezekiel was a prime one, but I wasn't ready to open that can of worms yet, not now.

And so as he opened his mouth a deep voice emanated from it causing a slight chill of excitement to course through my spine." What's going on?"

" The foraging team returned with some nuts earlier today, turns out that they had hallucination properties." I told him, I watched as his expression schooled into a well-known frown.

" Please don't tell me my entire camp is high...." He muttered almost pleadingly, I found myself smiling at him apologetically.

" Not everyone." Muttered Octavia with a shrugg even as her eyes darted around the trees surrounding our camp.

Ezekiel looked almost hopeful at Octavia's words.

" But most of our guards and soldiers are so that's why I had Raven radio you." I told him.

His shoulders dropped and I swear I heard a low muttering of 'fuck'.

" Well, let's fix this before it escalates and Clarke, get me some of those nuts and let me see whether they are safe to eat or not." Ezekiel immediately went back to what I liked calling his 'leader' mode where his expression shifted into an apathetic and expressionless leader.

" I'm on it." I told him and turned away to immediately do what he asked me to but I caught the last orders to Octavia before I walked off.

" O, round up everyone high, get some help from everyone that isn't faded off nuts please."
