Joanna reversed, out of the driveway, her hand trembling on the steering wheel. She glanced back at Carla in the back seat. Her skin was pale and her blood dripped onto Miguel's leather seat.
She drove down the driveway towards the gate, the guards by the gate didn't pull it open as they waited for her to stop so they confirmed who she was.
"Carla, get down," Joanna whispered as she slowed down the car, and lowered the window of the car, so they could see her.
"Good afternoon Mrs Salvador." The guard greeted her, lowering his gun.
"Good afternoon." She greeted back, she was sweating profusely in the car, her body filled with unease and her eyes were darting to the back to make sure Carla remained hidden.
"Does the Don know you are going out?" The guard asked.
Joanna managed a tight strained smile that didn't reach her eyes as she nodded."Yes, I just need to quickly get some groceries." She said,
