Three months since arriving at the cabin…
Cora and Jared had fallen into some simple routines over the last several months. Winter had hit hard shortly after their arrival at the cabin. Now at the end of January they were becoming used to the slower rural lifestyle of northern America.
The winter had already delivered nearly six feet of snow. They were both aware now that they had at least another month of deep winter to get through. Luckily, the property had been equipped with several types of snow tools. With them, Jared kept the open areas between the house, shop, and driveway clear enough to be able to reach the grocery store and move about.
They had faced power outages twice this winter. One lasted around eighteen hours. The other power outage lasted three days with the power finally coming on at seven in the morning on Christmas days. They had the generators however, which made everything a little easier.
