It had been 200 years since the Great War, and the hero of that conflict, the Fifth True Dragon, ruler of the Tempest, sworn brother of the Storm Dragon, and the omnipotent Rimuru Tempest, sat in his office while glaring at the documents on his desk with the same intensity he had once fixed on Clayman all those years ago.
"I can't take this anymore!" Rimuru groaned, throwing his hands in the air. Before him lay a never-ending stack of papers. "If I have to read one more document, my brain will explode from sheer boredom!"
"Oh, come on, you know what I mean," Rimuru retorted, rolling his eyes. Sometimes he forgot that Ciel had completely given up on hiding her sentience, and she could be quite sarcastic and mean when she wanted to be. "What's the point of being this strong if I can't even have fun anymore?" he mused, remembering how he still got flabbergasted every time he checked his stats.

"Hey! You can't call that playing. I was just babysitting them," Rimuru replied, averting his eyes. "Anyway, as I was saying, I don't want to work anymore. So, I was thinking, why don't I just go to the past and start over while leaving my parallel existence here? Isn't that a great idea?"
<...> Ciel didn't respond, but Rimuru could feel her exasperation at his idea.
"But wait! If I change the past, it will also affect the future, right?" Rimuru pondered for a moment until an idea came to mind. "Say, Ciel, would you be able to create a separate, self-contained timeline to play with?"
"Sweet! Then let's do that!" Rimuru said excitedly. "Let's go for a Dominant Run this time."
"Yeah, you remember how Diablo once asked me if I was planning for world domination, and I declined because it would have been troublesome to rule the entire world, not to mention Guy would have constantly nagged me about balance and whatnot. But now, since I am stronger than him and most of them, I want to see what I can do when I have control of the entire world," Rimuru explained. "Besides, I have some other goals in mind as well."
"First, I want to annoy Guy Crimson as much as I can," Rimuru said, an evil grin spreading across his face. "That bastard pushed all of his troubles onto me, and I couldn't even do anything because I was no match for him back then. But now... hehehe..."
Meanwhile, somewhere in the Ice Continent, a certain mediator felt a chill run down his spine.
"Second, I want to try being more assertive, I guess," Rimuru said. "In this timeline, I played it a lot safer since we were fighting an uphill battle and had little to no information about this world and our enemies. But now, with you by my side, I think we can overcome anything, even if I decide to mess around a little bit."
A warm feeling erupted from within Ciel's heart as she heard her master relying on her.
"I know, partner. That's why I rely on you so much," he said and chuckled as he felt Ciel having butterflies in her stomach. Over the past few years, Rimuru had realized that Ciel really liked being praised by him and would deny it every time he asked about it. Honestly, it amazed him how Ciel, the most knowledgeable entity in this world, could act silly at times.
"No, that's just your imagination," Rimuru replied with a smug grin.
<*Pout*> Rimuru chuckled out loud as he noticed Ciel sulking in his mind.
"Anyway, you still haven't heard my third goal yet," he said, once again devilishly grinning to himself. "Well, you see, I would like to have my libido back in this timeline."
<...>
"Now, now, there's no point in staying silent. I know you used to suppress those feelings for me," Rimuru said.
"I'm not blaming you. In fact, I'm glad you did that; otherwise, I'm sure I would have made a lot of idiotic decisions," Rimuru said. "But since I'm doing everything differently this time, why not try this as well."
<... if this is what the master desires, it won't be a problem," Ciel said in a cold voice, and Rimuru sighed. He knew where this was coming from, and he was also aware that he needed to solve this before starting his new game plus.
"Ciel, come out," Rimuru said, but he received no response. So, he created a clone of himself and commanded, "I said come out, Ciel."
Obeying her master's command, Ciel manifested in the clone in front of him, indicated by how the clone's eyes turned red, unlike gold before. But even after manifesting, Ciel refused to meet his eyes; instead, she was just pouting while looking to the side.
"Ciel, are you perhaps jealous?" Rimuru asked with an amused smile.
Rimuru sighed and stood up from his seat. Then he walked towards Ciel, stood in front of her, and asked, "Ciel, are you perhaps upset at the idea of me being with other women?"
"Ciel..." Rimuru gently caressed Ciel's face with his hands and stared into her red, flabbergasted eyes. "You are the most important person in my life. I stand here today because you saved me, helped me, and bailed my ass out of many situations. Ciel, you're not just some skill or manas, you are Ciel, my partner, and nothing can change that, not even Shizu, the one girl I truly loved."
But unlike her, Rimuru took advantage of her silence and once again leaned in, capturing her lips in a tender, passionate kiss. Rimuru's hands cradled Ciel's face with the utmost care, his fingers tracing the curve of her jaw as he deepened the kiss. Ciel's initial surprise melted away, replaced by a burning need that mirrored Rimuru's own desire. Their tongues danced in a sensual ballet, and in that moment, nothing else mattered but the two souls entwined in a fiery, consuming embrace.
Finally, the two of them separated, and Rimuru smiled at her. "So, Ciel, do you need any more proof that we are soulmates and inseparable, no matter what?" he asked with a cheeky smile.
Ciel said with a genuine smile, abandoning her icy expression.
Then the clone vanished, and Ciel returned inside him.
"Sweet," Rimuru said and created a parallel existence that would remain here. "Then, Ciel, let's restart our journey, this time together."
To be continued...
