Wu Jinmai's POV
I look at Shanguan Zu Jin's grandfather. The tone he uses has its own meaning. It's like a warning. NO. It really is.
"What did you mean by that, grandfather?" Shanguan Rong sips his tea first before he speaks again.
"The emperor promised the same thing, but he lost his way. His fear for the military powers that his officials had was the reason for his downfall," he remarked. I raise my cup and sip my tea. I already heard that reason.
"The Song family has the strongest and largest army among the noble families. Shanguan's, Li's, and Yang's had their own army," I mumbled. I grab a cake and take a bite.
"The imperial army is not even close to the Yang's army. The Song army had 450,000 soldiers. The Shanguan army had 310,000 soldiers, the Li army had 270,000 soldiers, and lastly, the Yang. They have 200,000 soldiers," I added.
