I was offended and frustrated at the same time because I remember how she laughed and smiled in front of Su Ming Xi.
Yes, she smiled at me much better, but I couldn't stop thinking that she might have been honest with another man and trusted that man more than she did with me. She shakes her head.
"I am not afraid of you. The problem was with me. I remember Wu Jinmai's life more than mine. We are both betrayed by the people we trust. I don't know how to handle things and am afraid of messing up like what she did."
She holds both of my hands. Her tears stream down her cheeks. She started brushing the back of my palms using her thumb.
Our eyes meet again. I saw the fear in her eyes. "I'm afraid that I'll turn to an empress like what you guys fear. What if I'm making the wrong judgment?"
