'Do you notice anything weird about Astrid?' I asked Kaiza, my wolf. I was taking the first watch while everyone slept so I was alone and I felt it was right to talk to someone about my growing doubts. I'd been uneasy the whole day because of the surge of emotions that I felt radiating from Astrid. I had to talk to her and reassure her that nothing would change the way I felt about her. I hadn't been lying, but there was something that bothered me.
'What do you mean?' Kaiza asked, sounding contemplative. 'You mean something about her being targeted by the Void Hounds?'
I scowled. 'No! Not that, Kaiza! I thought you'd immediately catch on to what I'm saying!'
Kaiza shot back at me in his typical witty ways. 'Well, pardon me if I'm not a seer!'
