I watched him leave the room, half of my sanity with him.
"He said you are his," Darius began, his tone and demeanor unwavering.
"Nice job repeating what he said," I replied dryly.
"Don't use that tone with me, Astrid."
"I wouldn't dare."
I let Meredith take my hand and pull me towards the bed so I could sit down.
"If I'm to take his words literally, it would imply that you and he are mated to each other, correct?"
"Give it a rest, Darius," Meredith lashed out, but he merely ignored her outburst and continued to prod me.
"I'm not going to leave you alone until you tell me exactly what I need to know."
I knew him well enough to know he wasn't bluffing. Stubbornness was, after all, a common trait we had both inherited from our father.
I knew I had very limited options, so I did the only thing I felt would be more beneficial to me.
