I groggily forced my eyes open, wincing slightly from my head pounding and my body feeling extra heavy with fatigue. Something's wrong, I thought as I tried to push myself up and struggled with it. The lunar cycle. I let out a sigh as it dawned on me.
The day of the full moon was almost upon us, and most werewolves tend to feel slightly under the weather for the few days leading up to it. I finally succeeded and sat up straight in the bed just as I heard the soft knock before my door was pushed open.
"Sun's up, son."
My lips curled up in a warm smile at the sound of my mother's voice before she even appeared with a food tray. "Morning, Mom," I greeted.
She moved forward and placed the breakfast on the bedside table, a gentle smile on her lips. "Did you sleep well? I thought I would bring your breakfast up."
