Knight observed the piece he had written. He looked at the letters and words from all angles, hoping they would indeed please Lady Victoria. As usual, he hoped she would delight in the curves of the words. He folded the paper and finally placed the anonymous signature on the visible fold.

Afterward, he stood from the desk that was previously his, placed the bag containing his royalty clothes under the bed—where the guard assigned to live in that room would not find it—and then finally put on his balaclava and black gloves. He steadily reached for the door, but it flung open before he could even extend his hand to the doorknob, hitting his head, though the balaclava helped cushion the pain.

"Who are you?" the man questioned, his eyes fixed on Knight, without apologizing for hitting his head.
