__________
Toji P.O.V.
Training a single person has been annoying.
Well, it's sorta different since there is only so much I've been able to do with the kid since the woman is adamant about me not fighting back.
If you wanna teach her how to fight, why keep her from fighting a real opponent?
The most we've been able to do is physical training.
She apparently 'isn't ready' for a real fight.
The kid could've fooled me with how she was aiming to kill. I'll need to tell it to Rion straight if she wants me to keep helping the kid.
She's eleven, but the point still stands.
Kid has potential with the Path thing she's got, but the woman keeps the kid from growing.
However, I need to focus on something else right now.
...
I get broken out of my thoughts as my three roommates make their way to the first gym.
The kid has long since gone back to the apartment to chill out after her training session.
Rion tilted her head to the side. "Sooo, why did you call us here?"
I lean back on the wall with a raised eyebrow. "Why do you think? Doesn't take a genius to figure it out."
If she's going to be a smartass when I ask her things, I might as well return the favor.
Instead of looking irritated, she covered her mouth with her hand, having a wide smile. "HA! Yo Nagumo, Sakamoto, look at Toji, bein' all petty. How cute~."
*sigh*
She figured out what I was doing. It ended up having the opposite effect.
Being around her so much gave her an idea of how I usually act.
As per usual, she's weird. It looks like the shit I told her about my past, and waking up here doesn't phase her at all.
I shook my head. "I want a training partner, and you three are, unfortunately, the best thing I've got right now."
Sakamoto locked in and narrowed his eyes at me.
What the hell did I do to him? He's giving me a look like I killed his dog. While not as crazy as Hollow Eyes #2, it's still unsettling.
Meh, he probably wants to get stronger to protect his future girlfriend. He's been serious about this love thing ever since seeing her.
Sakamoto cracked his shoulder. "This is perfect. I can finally get serious again."
My eyes slowly widened.
The aura he gave off...
He's already caught back up to Rion.
Even without a weird ability, he still got on her level, and the woman has been training non-stop, ignoring most of her job to keep the kid safe.
Just a week after he met his crush, he had already become this much stronger.
He's still not on Takamura's level, but it won't take long for him to catch up and become the strongest member of the Order.
A smile unconsciously appeared on my face.
This just might work.
...
Nagumo had a slight smile as he started stretching. "Well, well, well. Now that the two bums are done flirting, we can get on with it."
Rion and I ignored his comment.
I won't be using the inventory curse since I wanted to make it as difficult as possible. The only thing I have now is the split-soul katana.
Relying on the inventory curse for everything will only stunt my growth in situations where I only have my body to rely on, but it will still be my partner when I go for the kill.
Who knows if those Monarch guys will try to disable it somehow?
I've gotta' keep every outcome in mind. I almost lost it when the Cursed Spirit Manipulation user nearly absorbed it, and the Monarch freak almost killed it.
Rion scratched the back of her hair. "Well, can we work on something, or are you going to go all out and beat the hell outta us?"
Nagumo gave a helpless smile, likely because he was the weakest in the group, and his primary skillset was useless against me.
I was lost in thought for a moment, but I eventually spoke. "Black hair, focus on your stealth. I need you to be able to catch me off guard. Green hair, try to improve your Path thingy. Maybe you can bypass my precognition. White hair, I'll put out some random objects for you to use. Try mixing and matching multiple objects to keep me on my toes."
The guy I fought was able to get close to me before I could dodge or fully protect myself. If I can get Nagumo to that level, I can improve my detection so it won't happen again.
With Rion, I want to see how far she can push her eyes to counter someone like me.
And with Sakamoto, I've noticed that he fights best using tools around him. He's like an expert cursed tool user, except he uses everyday items.
*cough*
I threw up the inventory curse and had it move around the room to drop a lot of the random crap I had stored in there.
The inventory curse isn't there just because it holds my weapons.
It's infinite storage.
Rion leaned forward with a smirk. "Hah, I like it, but this training isn't only for you. When do we get to order you around?"
I returned the smirk. "When you can beat me."
That isn't happening anytime soon.
Nagumo rolled his eyes. "God, get a room, you two."
Rion shot him a look. "Shut it."
He shrugged with a playful smile and stuck his tongue out.
It didn't take long for the inventory curse to finish its job and make its way back to me.
Sakamoto tuned back into the conversation after staring at the sky. "Are you guys done yapping?"
After he finished the sentence, all three assassins snapped their eyes on me.
We all got into our respective fighting positions as if it were a bell.
*WOOSH*
They all jumped at me from different angles.
A maniacal smile made its way onto my face. "Don't disappoint me now! Show me what you all got!"
...
I jumped forward into the group, katana in hand.
