Chapter 1 - Unease

[Author Note]

Disc: HrPrTeam

Hola, here it is, nerds.

Updates will be infrequent at the start since kicking off the story is difficult and I need to do some research about the verse.

I'm not nearly as knowledgeable on this verse as I am with JJK, so I don't want to screw things up.

Note: The timeline isn't clear in Sakamoto Days, so please ignore the small inconsistencies if things change in the future or if I miss something.

Outside the House of the Children of the Star: Toji P.O.V.

"[Hollow Technique: Purple]."

*snap*

...

...

...

Unease.

'I don't want to work for free.'

I'd usually say that and then run away.

But the person before me became our generation's strongest sorcerer.

I wanted to deny it, go against it.

The Jujutsu world.

To reaffirm my identity, I warped my usual self.

*drip*

*drip*

*drip*

...

It was at that point where I had already lost.

...

I manage to get words out. "I thought I discarded this pride."

We both stay silent for a moment as the entire upper left of my body is missing.

Satoru Gojo spoke up. "Do you have any last words?"

A small smile appears on my face. "Nah, I got a kid that's going to get sold to the Zenin clan. Do what you will with that."

My kid...

His name is Megumi, right?

I could never help you use your potential as a Jujutsu sorcerer.

The Zenin clan would've let you realize that potential.

In spite of Jujutsu society, I took away your right to have a father.

I'm suddenly reminded of my own childhood as well as the person whom I truly loved.

Is this what they call 'life flashing before your eyes'?

Whatever, it doesn't matter. It's not like I can do anything anymore.

Although that ten million wasn't bad.

I'm a real shitty father.

...

Everything went dark.

...

The area turned silent as the 'Sorcerer Killer' drew his last breath.

Okutabi Lab: Year 2012

The supernatural.

Creating impossibilities and conducting important research is the Lab's goal.

Most of this generation's famous assassins were born to be natural killers.

While The Lab's focus wasn't to create assassins, there were certain fields that studied superhumans.

The lead of this research path is Asakura.

Nobody in The Lab believed in his work, but he knew that his work would succeed one day.

However...

A man with a scruffy beard and a lab coat spoke. "Why do I have to deal with a brat? That damn Ando dumped him on me."

The man known as Asakura had an impromptu adoption of Shin, a normal kid.

His research was important to the development of humankind, but here he was, suddenly becoming a parent.

*chomp*

Asakura's eyes widened. "Hey, you brat! I was going to eat that!"

Shin narrowed his eyes. "I hate the crap you serve here, especially the meat!"

A tick mark appeared on Asakura's head. "GET OUT!"

This was only the start of many events that Asakura would have to go through to raise Shin.

...

Asakura was by no means a good parent, but he did enough to keep Shin alive and well.

However, he was running into a problem...

He put his hands on his head. "My research isn't going anywhere."

*bam*

Asakura dropped his face on the table in defeat but soon brought it back up, knowing he would eventually make a breakthrough in his work.

Shin saw him in mental distress, so he walked over to the table.

On his way, he noticed something strange.

Shin pondered for a moment. 'Huh, a button.'

He moved to a side table, and due to his short stature, he was able to see under it.

Sitting in the far corner under the table, a small grey button that blended in could be seen.

*click*

*whoosh*

Almost instantly, the glass case on the right side of the room flipped to the side to open a stairway.

It finally got Asakura's attention as he stood up. "What did you do, Shin!?"

He put his finger on his chin. "I saw a button, so I pushed it."

Like any child, they see a button, they push.

He shook his head. "Damn, kids."

While he was annoyed by Shin's antics once more, he narrowed his eyes and walked over to the hidden passage.

Shin started walking over to it, but Asakura put his hand out to hold him back. "S T A Y."

This time, Shin looked annoyed but ultimately walked over and sat in Asakura's seat.

Asakura sighed since Shin pretty much did anything he wanted to, even if scolded.

However, he couldn't blame the kid since he was abandoned and had nowhere to go.

Shin wanted nothing more than to make his presence known. He had been alone most of his life. Even his biological father, Ando, didn't pay much mind to him.

He was a researcher like Asakura.

Ando didn't care about it if it didn't satisfy his curiosity.

In a loss of interest, he abandoned his own son.

*step*

*step*

*step*

Asakura walked down the staircase.

...

He rubbed the back of his head. "This is like some cliche in a story. It checks all the boxes. In an underground lab, hidden in the wall, secret button, the whole 9 yards. The only thing that isn't here are torches lighting up the walls."

*FWOOSH*

"Nevermind."

While Asakura was judging the interior, he finally arrived at the end of the stairs, a door standing in his way.

His eyes narrowed as he twisted the knob. "Not locked."

*creek*

He slowly opened the door and peeked his head inside.

What awaited behind the door shocked him.

A large glass tank filled with water contained what appeared to be a very young adult, naked and unconscious, connected by various tubes, allowing oxygen to pass through them.

He had black hair, a muscular build, and a small scar on the right corner of his lip.

An eyebrow raised. 'Why does he have a scar on his lip?'

From his estimations, he would say the man inside is around 18-20 years old.

Asakura's eyes were widened the entire time.

He gave a nervous smile. "Whoever made this place has no creativity."

This wasn't a time to joke, but this was something so insane that he couldn't help but laugh.

He had been trying to create superhumans in the past, but never had he done human testing.

However, there someone was, right under his lab, being stuck in a tank like an animal.

The Lab has always followed ethics and procedures albeit not to the best of their capabilities, but human testing was never allowed unless given approval and under supervision.

Asakura thought of something that confused him. "It was hidden by a button...A kid found it by accident."

He shook his head as he walked inside to see a notepad on the front table.

*grab*

Picking it up, he read the contents of the front page.

__________

Hello, my old friend.

If you are reading this, that means I have already left The Lab. I have always been fascinated by your research, but it has stagnated due to the rules imposed by law.

I've had to take more drastic measures to finally realize your and my dream of surpassing human limits.

Ever since conducting this research, I have learned more about human limits and ability, which is why I am leaving.

I can no longer further my research in this environment, so I left you a gift: the first successful superhuman.

I've given the following to the Subject:

1. Enhanced Strength, Speed, and Durability

2. Regeneration

3. Heightened Senses

4. Precognition

I am experimenting with much more, but I hope you can use this to aid in the future of humans.

Sincerely,

Ando.

__________

*boof*

Asakura dropped the notepad. "He's insane..."

He didn't know what to think.

So many things were happening in a short span of time.

Should he report it?

The person in front of him is living proof his research had merit in the first place.

Is it really worth the risk?

...

*crack*

...

He turned toward the tank with a defeated look. "Hah, damn. Just how many cliches are going to happen today?"

Back with Shin

*gulp*

*gulp*

*gulp*

...

Shin chugged down a 'drink' that Asakura left at his desk.

*BLEH*

He spoke. "That tasted awful. Now my stomach hurts."
