Chapter 15 - 14th: Let the Hunting, Begin! [Part 1]

"LET THE HUNTING, begin!"

Giving himself a cue, Wren started with long strides and not long after that, he was already running in a stable phase. While doing so, he would increase all his senses, whether it was his sense of smell or sight. He would do it to the fullest to ensure that he wouldn't miss any monsters in the way.

As the original had known from his own advanced study, the first floor, which has a forest environment, had goblins as the monsters. There are also different classes of goblins according to their types and ranks on the whole first floor.

If his luck was really great, he wanted to only encounter ordinary goblins. He can take them if they are in a group but if it's a horde of more than a dozen and with an additional fighter goblin, who can actually fight? He might as well run.

Maybe because the original has a crow's mouth and, with his luck, this ability was increased tenfold, he was still in his first three minutes of running, yet he already encountered a horde of goblins.

It was still doable if there were only ordinary goblins with one fighter goblin added to the group but what kind of combination does his crow's mouth and luck indicate that he had come across a goblin settlement with just one run?

"I'm definitely regretting activating and adding that luck skill! If I had known that the original had some special skill, such as a crow's mouth, I would never have accepted the additional attribute! Damn it!"

Unfortunately for Wren, it was too late for him to run and hide like he planned because a flying watcher goblin had already spotted him. With a yell, this watcher goblin flapped its wings, which were bigger than its body and it created a sound wave, which obviously made the other goblins become aware of an intruder.

And yes, that intruder was none other than him.

"Fuck! Can you at least let me prepare?"

Because Wren had started to panic, he had almost forgotten to summon his only weapon and randomly activated his skills. Coincidentally, the skill that he activated was [Skilled Hunter], which gives him the aura and instincts of a skilled hunter.

He successfully summoned the [Amarok Hunter's Bow and Arrow] and applied the additional camouflage skill of the weapon. With the addition of agility, Wren felt like he had truly become a skilled hunter.

Using the skills might make him look like he was only letting the skills control him but that was really not the case. The way that Wren had upgraded the summon's skills might be like a cheat, but it was truly Wren who was controlling his body when he moved.

Everything that the summon provided for him, whether optimized skills or stats, was only applied knowledge and Wren was still the one to decide if he could do it like a pro or not. Just like how it goes with the other hunters when they upgrade their skills.

What he had that was different from the rest was his cheat-like main summon, who allows him to upgrade and even buy a summon without sweating.

With agility the same as that of a real skilled hunter, Wren could pinpoint a proper position to hide. But before that, he has to kill the flying watcher goblin, which was the only goblin who was tailing at him closely.

He took one arrow from his quiver, which instantly appeared on his back when he summoned the item. Wren skillfully inserted it into the arrow rest up to the bowstrings. Holding the arrow's nock, he pulled it with enough force.

With a quick turn, he aims at the flying goblin just a few meters above his head. Wren let go of his hold on the arrow and with a swoosh, the arrow pierced the air and flew at the same velocity until it hit the flying goblin on the head.

[You had successfully killed one Watcher Goblin. You have received (+5) XP. There are still forty-nine [Goblin] monsters that you must kill to complete the (2) daily quest.]

"Ey! That felt good!" Wren felt so giddy with his first kill that he almost jumped in excitement.

Fortunately, he was still sane enough that he didn't forget that he was trying to hide from the eyes of these goblins. Now that he had his chance, Wren proceeded with his plan using the camouflage skill provided by his weapon. Then he quickly hid himself on top of a luscious, big old tree.

Following this up, his next plan was to plan how he could successfully exterminate this goblin settlement, which was obviously more civilized than he had expected. He already had an inkling that goblins were the type of monsters that are not far from humans when it comes to being civilized as a group.

But it still took him by surprise to personally discover it. And of course, apart from that, there was awe. As a mythomaniac, he had been wanting to see in person those legendary creatures that he had only been seeing through unproven drawings and pictures.

So this encounter was also like an achievement for him. Instead of the fact that those fantasy creatures that can be real in this world cause him fear and worry, Wren can only look forward to discovering everything with his own eyes.

"I have done training my [Skilled Hunter] skills using the [Amarok Hunter's Bow and Arrow] so maybe I can use the other skills," Wren talks to himself as he looks down at the tree.

He watched as the horde of ordinary goblins holding their own weapons was walking on the frontline while a dozen or so hobgoblins were waiting at the rear. Comparing the size of an ordinary goblin to a hobgoblin, the latter was ten times bigger and larger than the former, just like he had known the difference between the two.

On the other hand, there were also some gremlin-like goblins, which were twice the size of the ordinary goblins and were holding magic rods each. It just shows that these gremlin-like goblins are capable of casting magic, which was quite unexpected for Wren.

Let's not forget the small but terrible flying goblins that were twice as many as those hobgoblins. They were already flying above like a fly and were also small, making it very hard to kill them in one hit.

Fortunately, Wren had that perfect skill or he couldn't even kill that watcher goblin with one strike.

The number of his targets had increased enormously. He could no longer use the [Skilled Hunter] skill, as it was only perfect for a couple of monsters as targets. But that doesn't mean that it can no longer be in use.

What he needed now was the perfect skill that was compatible with the [Skilled Hunter] as well as could help take down a lot of goblins like those AoE skills found in games.

"Status open."

"For now, I have [Gigantomania], [Black Purgatory], and [Wolfen Curse], which all have an area of effect. If I plan to first take down those flying insects, I might as well use [Gigantomania]."

Wren shifts his eyes back to the armies of goblins to comprehend if his plan will work or not. He wanted to try using the [Wolfen Curse] first to see if his assumption of this skill was correct but he was not given the time for it so he can only make priorities.

Finalizing his thoughts, Wren waited for the perfect timing when the flying goblins were close enough before activating the skill.

"[Gigantomania.]"

The moment he spoke the activation key, Wren quickly felt the changes within his body. His muscles, which were already thick enough, started to expand so much that it felt like they were swelling to the point of bursting.

Although it was not painful, it feels uncomfortable. He could just use the system panel that popped out to forget about his discomfort.

[You have activated the [Gigantomania] skill. Your body will enlarge like a giant, like how enormous the Amarok Wolf is in its prime. You can decide how big you want to become by envisioning it in your mind.]
