The conference room at the sixth division headquarters echoed with tense voices. Located at the southern exit of Saint Isle, this division was fortified like a border fortress. Its walls were thick, unyielding granite, braced with iron and streaked with faint symbols of protection against intrusions both physical and mystical. Windows were narrow and high, more for defense than daylight, and the heavy, muted lights cast sharp shadows that seemed to loom over the room as though part of the silent, foreboding structure itself.
