Chereads / Egoistic Ace System / Chapter 5 - Assert Dominance

Chapter 5 - Assert Dominance

[Certainly! The Vision displayed by the system consisted of Peripheral Vision, Depth Perception, Visual Acuity, Contrast Sensitivity, and Eye-Hand Coordination. It has significance in football.]

Aoi nodded and agreed.

He asked in his mind, 'Provide each definition.'

[Peripheral Vision is the ability to see objects outside the direct line of sight, important for awareness of the field and opponents.

Depth Perception judges the distance and speed of moving objects, crucial for intercepting passes and timing tackles.

Visual Acuity is a sharpness of vision, important for tracking the ball and reading the game.

Contrast Sensitivity is the ability to distinguish objects from the background, useful in varying lighting conditions.

Eye-Hand Coordination is important for goalkeepers in making saves and for players during throw-ins.]

Aoi noted it down in his mind, attempting to make sense of each of them that formed the Vision.

Peripheral Vision played a crucial role in providing supplementary information on the occurrence in the field.

Even then, peripheral vision was often misleading.

For instance, you thought your crush was staring at you in your peripheral vision, but when you turned toward her…

It turned out she was dazing on the boy beside you – your best friend, at that.

As a result, most boys would not easily assume, disregarding their intuition through their peripheral vision most of the time.

However, Aoi was different.

His peripheral vision and intuition could be trusted, for eighty percent, at least.

Next was Depth Perception, also his specialty, as it was useful for playing games.

Depth Perception was also crucial in action games, especially the game he loved to play – Kekken.

He judged the distance and speed of the character he played against the enemy, intercepting the latter's movements that could lead to his victory.

Next was Visual Acuity, which was also useful when playing games.

Through Visual Acuity, he could read the games, especially when it was a fast-paced game that required the players to make quick decisions.

With sharp vision, it helps players read the game, anticipate opponents' actions, and identify opportunities for making plays.

Those three visions were already what Aoi was good at, making sense about his grade being C+.

Of course, as a student who lived in Asia, C+ was frowned upon, as A grade was the only grade acceptable for their parents.

However, since the system has a high standard, it was already not bad, considering he never played football at all.

Furthermore, Vision was actually his forte, and he could not help but be thankful, instead of regretting his past, for playing games so seriously.

Through it, his vision improved to the point it was graded high compared to other physical capabilities.

The remaining vision – Contrast Sensitivity and Eye-Hand Coordination – also contributed to his playing games.

A high Eye-Hand Coordination, it was every gamer's desire to attain.

As a gamer of the past, Aoi played eight hours per day – if there was no class – inevitably giving him exceptional Eye-Hand Coordination.

He did not even need to talk about Contrast Sensitivity, to which the gamers relied on the ability to distinguish objects in the background.

At this point, he felt like he transformed his gamer's ability into football.

He was only lacking in his physical capabilities.

With his Vision, he could already become a striker.

However, with the help of the system, he would become the best striker in the world!

For now, he must grasp how to make use of the Egoistic Ace System.

Since the teacher did not appear yet, and it seemed Izumi had fallen asleep on his shoulder, he decided to explore more about the system.

'It said that to improve my physical capabilities' points, I have to expend my ego points. To obtain ego points, I must act like an egoist.'

Aoi ruminated.

His face twitched in dissatisfaction.

'I'm afraid if I abuse the system, it will change me. Worst, become the person I did not want to be like.'

Aoi lowered his head and gazed at Izumi's hair.

He caressed it and shook his head.

'It might strain our relationship. I don't want that to happen. I must use the system as meticulously as possible. Too much of an egoist can also stray from my relationship with other people. It is something I must avoid. I must choose the right people to offend.'

Aoi sighed.

He was not a blinded person, not knowing how destructive the treasure he received.

If he treated it as gold and did not make use of it, it would eventually destroy him whole.

Hence, he must not be impulsive after seeing the benefits through a narrowed vision – though, easy to say. He acknowledged the difficulty behind it.

Aoi was contemplating how to obtain ego points in a way to prevent putting himself at risk in the future when he saw a death stare in his peripheral vision.

He snapped into reality, turning his head slightly to the direction of the death stare, and was surprised to see it came from one of his classmates.

He was not a brother or a friend to every boy – only Oka he considered as such.

Of course, Oka was the opposite of him, as he befriended almost everyone.

Of course, it resulted in girls seeing him only as friends.

'If I remember, he is one of Izumi's pursuers. His name is Kaga, if I'm not wrong.'

Aoi tried his best to recall his classmates' names through Oka's constant talking behind their backs.

He even remembered Oka bragging about Aoi getting Izumi's attention when he did not even want it, while Kaga, who had been trying to have his presence recognized by Izumi, could not be able to.

Aoi fell into a daze, staring at Kaga, as the latter suddenly stood up and began to walk towards him, his eyebrows furrowed in indignation.

Aoi awoke but remained calm and composed, meeting his gaze.

Aoi had always been infuriated when he felt his ego was being tested through a staring contest.

He loathed other people, trying to step upon his ego, feeling like he was being tested.

There was no way he would back down.

As they were in a staring contest, Kaga suddenly blinked, while Aoi did not.

At the same time, Aoi was startled to hear the system's voice echoing inside his mind.

[You have asserted your dominance! You have shown your egoistic behavior.

You have obtained 3 ego points!]

Aoi was surprised and was instantly delighted he received three ego points.

All of a sudden, he was staring at Kaga as though he was looking at a treasure.

Kaga, who was walking towards Aoi to show who was superior, suddenly felt a chill crawling on his spine.
