Alex slowly unzipped his dimensional pocket in his regular pocket and reached his hand inside. He pulled the letter out and handed it behind his back. He felt the person grab and looked at it.
"This isn't possible. This is real. I need to show this to my Elder. You and your friends need to come with me. I will spare your life and give the letter back if you agree to come with me to our society to meet with my elder," the voice said.
"I'll agree to it if you'll share an introduction of each other's identities with me. I can't keep calling you The Voice," Alex said.
"My name is Aldeena. What is your's special one?" Aldeena said.
"My name is Alex. And the one on the left is Finn. And the one on the right is Astrid. I will give you our time, but I must assure you that the fate of the Multiverse really relies on me winning this race," Alex said.
"The aliens invading my planet plan to fuse the dimensions together, which will not only devastate our universe but neighboring universes as well. Fate herself said that the fusion of the dimensions may cause her to cease to exist."
"That is a great burden you bear, child. I do not envy your position, but my position requires that I bring this matter to my elder. It is my aim to have my elder provide you aid in accomplishing your goal. Would it help if I had my subordinates delay your competitors in this race?" Aldeena said.
"I would love that! Please do that," Alex said. "Now, follow me out of the time dilation zone so we don't end up out of sync. Oh, and please put your knife away. I don't want my friends to attack you out of misunderstanding."
"Oh, right. I almost forgot," Aldeena said, putting away her knife.
They walked out of the time dilation zone.
"See? I'm fine! And I have a new friend. Her name is Aldeena," Alex said.
"Nice to meet you! I'm Astrid," Astrid said.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Finn," Finn said.
"Nice to meet you both as well. I'm Aldeena," Aldeena said.
"And I'm Alex! But you all already knew that," Alex said. "Aldeena wants us to go to her village to meet with her elder so she can show them the letter from Fate."
"That sounds fun!" Astrid said.
"That's fine. How are we going to win the race then though?" Finn said.
"Aldeena has agreed to send her subordinates to slow down our competition," Alex said.
"Oh ok," Finn said.
"Let's go," Alex said.
They followed Aldeena back to her village. They walked through the forest, eventually stopping at a huge tree. She knocked on it in a melodic way, and a door opened in the tree.
When they walked inside, they saw that the tree had been hollowed out and housed the entire village inside through a series of floors connected by a rudimentary elevator.
Some of the elves gave us a weird look, but Aldeena waved them off. They got into the elevator and took it several floors up. When they got off they seemed to be in some sort of library or communal study area.
Aldeena walked them past the book into a side office that had a beautiful but distinguished man inside it. His long, flowing hair was pure white, but he looked no older than his early forties.
Although, for elves, Alex had no idea what that signified. Since they were supposed to live forever, why did they age at all? Or did they just age incredibly slowly to the point that none of them had ever died from it?
If this guy was forty in elf years, that must mean he had lived at least centuries, if not millennia.
"Elder Nondarius," Aldeena bowed deeply towards the man, "I have urgent news that requires your attention."
"Yes, Aldeena. What is it? Who are these humans? You know they are forbidden to enter the village unless under the most dire circumstances," Elder Nondarius said. He didn't look disapproving. He looked concerned. "And for the last time, please call me Nondar. I will not say it again."
"Yes, Nondar, I shall do that henceforth. The circumstances of the humans' presence are dire indeed, my lord," Aldeena said, coming back up out of her bow. "The humans are on a quest to save the multiverse, which is in grave danger. This includes Alfheim, my lord. A quest bestowed upon them by Fate."
"Fate? Not the fates? As in the Fate who transcends all other fates?" Nondar said.
"Yes, my lord," Aldeena said.
"Do they have proof?" Nondar said.
"This letter, written and signed by Fate herself," Aldeena said, handing him the letter.
"Hmm. Intriguing. What is this about a competition between the gods and Alex? Who is Alex?" Nondar said.
"I am Alex, your lordship." Alex kneeled down on one knee and bowed his head.
"Please rise. I am not a lord above thee. I am simply a lord above she." Nondar indicated Aldeena. "How is it that you speak the elven language? Can your companions speak it as well?"
"Only I can speak it. My powers bestowed upon me by the Goddess Ludos seemingly allow me to learn any new language instantly as long as I am near someone who speaks it. My friends do not know the language, but I have the ability to teach it to them if you want," Alex said.
"Please do. So that we may all speak openly. I would speak your language, but I am afraid I do not know it. It has been centuries since I have visited Earth and I believe the languages have changed much in that time," Nondar said.
"I'll do that now." Alex telepathically connected to Astrid first. The system confirmed she was able to receive knowledge transferal, and Alex taught her the Elven language. Alex did the same for Finn.
