Chapter 8
Now when I came home, the last person I wanted to see was my dad. I was hoping he would have already left for work but seeing his car in the driveway, I knew I wouldn't be able to avoid 'the talk' with my dad.
And as my bad luck had it in for me, I saw him leaving the front door and making his way to his car, and just then, he noticed me, just as I noticed him.
He stared at me, no surprise on his face as he came to me and said, "Well, well, this is surely a nice surprise."
Did I mention there was no surprise on his face? Then I could only receive what he said as a sarcastic remark.
"I didn't expect to see you so soon. Not before you finished college but I think you missed your home, a bit too much." He said, sarcasm overflowing in his every word.
"Hi, dad." I simply greeted him back because that was what he was doing. Greeting me. That was just his way of doing that.
"Yes, hi." He said before he extended his hand and said, "I'm late for work and don't have time to talk but as soon as I come back home, we're having a nice little chat over dinner. And before you go in, turn in your car keys and credit cards. All the cash in your wallet too."
Just like a commander asking a subordinate to hand in his badge and gun, he asked for everything I had until further notice.
Now I wasn't the rebellious type but even I knew that I had nothing to my name and take these things, and what was left of me? The answer was simple, nothing.
However, before I could argue, a notification popped up in my vision that read as such.
[A quest has arrived]
[A good son]
[Grade: F]
[Task: Do as Dad says]
[Reward: 5% EXP]
[Failure: The talk at dinner might not go so well]
Ignoring the task, which was quite difficult for me to do, the reward was something I was even willing to give my clothes for. And not to mention the fact that the punishment for this quest was a bit scary as well.
I nodded, and without hesitation took out my wallet, which I emptied out, and handed over the cash, car keys, and all the cards I had.
A slight smile appeared on the old man's face as he handed me twenty dollars and said, "You might need these."
To buy candy?
I tried very hard that these words didn't leave my mouth. Just as he took everything, I received a new set of notifications.
[Quest complete]
[Level: 5(76%)]
I was very happy when I read that. Leveling up was my greatest problem and seeing that I could still receive quests, I don't know what for, I was very happy.
"It is good to see that you don't view this as a negative thing. It seems you have matured after all." My dad misunderstood the smile on my face but I didn't bother to correct him because that worked in my favor as well.
"Go in now. Your mother has been eager to see you since she heard you were coming back." He said and turned around to enter his car.
I watched as the automatic gate opened and his car left the premises. I turned around and took in the look of my house. It was a place I had seen after so long. So, so very long.
A simple single-story house with all the luxuries present. There were six bedrooms in this house, a big ass bathroom with shower, bath, and everything. A study\office for my father, a living room the size of two average-sized rooms, and of course a kitchen of about the same size that also worked as a dining room because of how gigantic it was.
Unlike most houses, the front door of the house opens to the kitchen, not the living room. From the kitchen came the living room from the left side while the right side led to the backyard where a pool was.
All in all, this was the house that not many could afford but it wasn't too big for a billionaire.
Oh? Did I forget to mention it? My family was one of the richest families in the Sapphire city. Most probably the strongest family. Yet our family abode was very humble. Came from my dad of course. And my mom had a bit of a say in it as well as she didn't like servants in the house and a big house was too much for her to take care of.
So they opted for a smaller house that was easy to clean and mom could do all the housework herself. Of course, we all still had to do our chores ourselves and we still had one maid who if I remember correctly was a college student as well for laundry and stuff.
Dad was the type to tend the garden and pool himself so there was no need for a gardener or a pool boy which would have been a dream job in my house given how hot my mother and sisters were.
Is that wrong of me to say that? Doesn't feel like it.
Anyways, moving on, we were a very conservative family. Not in the manner of dressing or religious activity but because we were raised very strictly by our parents. Especially my father and my mom was also very strict in some areas.
Of course, I took it as oppression and I was quite a rebellious kid. Given my fame, I was quite narcissistic as well. I wouldn't say I wasn't one now but I had learned that being handsome wasn't everything. There were other things to focus on too.
Anyway, I think that was enough information for now and more will come as I go forward in my life. For now, I needed to meet a mother who was apparently very anxious to meet her son.
I made my way to the front door and opened it, entering the familiar place that I had missed for the last one thousand and two years. And the first person my eyes fell on was the woman in her earliest forties.
There she was, sitting at the kitchen counter, dressed in a one-piece that seemed to be separated by a belt. The part above the belt was blue while the part below the belt was white, and coupled with a pair of black high heels, she seemed breathtaking.
It was amazing how she managed to make a synergy out of the contrasting colors on her. It was true they said. It wasn't the clothes, but the woman who wore them.
She was tapping the floor with her left foot sitting on a stool as she drank her coffee. She seemed nervous, or anxious and that was all for me. She was waiting for me.
"Kuhum." Of course, as much as I would like to admire her looks and her body, I was sure that staring at her like a creep wasn't the way to go around. I needed to make my presence known and let her know I was there so she wouldn't be startled by me. the last thing I wanted, after making her anxious, was to be startled by me.
She turned to me, her eyes turning wide in surprise as I said, "Hi, mom."
"Jacob!" She exclaimed and leaped at me. it was a wonder how she didn't slip in her high heels as she fell in my arms, her arms around my back and she hugged me like she hadn't seen me for a thousand years.
"Oh, that a… well… hello," was all I could say. I have to say that it felt very weird hugging Mom. Forgetting the fact that her chest was practically pushing into mine, which was hard to forget, to be honest, I never remembered her to be a hugger so even if I was happy about it, I couldn't help but wonder what had changed.
"I'm so glad you're back safe and sound. I was worried sick." She said while still in my embrace before she let go of me but didn't let go of me as she still grabbed me by my shoulders and said, "And look at you, you've become even more handsome in the time you were away. You look so manly now. I'm sure the girls must go crazy for you."
Well, I wouldn't refuse that girls went crazy for me but what she was noticing was probably the increase in my charm stat. But I wasn't going to change that misunderstanding. Not that she would be able to understand it as well.
"Well, I made sure not to break too many hearts." Of course, some of my narcissism remained even after a thousand years and that was as normal as the answer I could think of so I went with that.

What? I wanted to upload two chapters today. Got any problem with that? And leave comments for goodness sake.
