Chapter 43: First Pick

Loyd starts
"Contestants please take you places outside the ring."
They look confused as he gestures to where the king is sitting.
"These 3 competitors will start from the ringside in front of king Raymond. You will start to run around the ring. The match will last for 20 minutes. We will be keeping track of your laps."
They turn toward the king and start heading over.
"First place will get first pick, second place will get second pick. Kaijuu Roka-sama and Kaijuu Felmina-sama may only fight once each. After the match we will have general Kaijuu's wives also complete the same amount of laps as the second place challenger. After which an intermission of 90 minutes while the contestants recover. Needless to say third place will be disqualified."
Loyd turns to face them.
"Are the contestants ready?"
All 3 of them give a thumbs up above their heads.
"ON YOUR MARKS, GET READY, SET AND GO!"
They take of Shanon takes the Lead followed closely by Mark.
Wilfred is taking it slow.
5 Minutes in
Shanon has done 7 laps.
Mike has done 5 and 1/2.
Wilfred Has done almost 4.
10 Minutes in
Shanon is doing her 12th lap.
Mike is doing his 9th.
Wilfred is almost done with his 8th.
15 Minutes in
Shanon 16 laps.
Mike 12 laps.
Wilfred 13 laps.
20 Minutes
Shanon 17 and a half laps.
Wilfred 15 laps.
Mike 14 and 3/4 laps.
"And we have our winners. Shanon Wilson first place with 17 laps completed and Wilfred Shadow-Wolf with 15 laps completed. Please give them a round of applause."
Felmina and Roka joined us about 15 minutes into the match.
When I told them what was going to happen, they both got these depressed faces. So I said.
"Let's keep it fair."
Their expressions didn't change.
They took their places then I headed toward Loyd from my seat next to the king.
I told Loyd what was next.
I turned to go back to my seat and started walking.
"Fellow Soldiers, Roka-sama and Felmina-sama will be given 21 minutes to complete 15 laps. If either of them fail, they will forfeit their match. Let's cheer them on so we may witness their battles after the intermission. General Kaijuu will serve as the referee for these matches personally. He may stop them at any time according to his discretion. Both participants will be using real weapons and will be stopped before anyone is killed."
The crowd applauds.
"Contestants ready!?"
They both give a halfhearted thumbs up.
"ON YOUR MARKS, GET READY, SET AND GO!"
They both start off slow.
Then they start picking up speed, like a lot.
The whole thing took 5 minutes.
They cheated obviously.
They used their anti gravity. The crowd got stunned silent for a bit.
Felmina almost lapped Roka, Roka seemed to start getting used to the timing of the anti gravity steps.
A slow applause starts as Felmina completes her last lap.
Then some cheering starts as Roka finishes her last lap.
"O-Okay folks, we will now be taking an intermission of 90 minutes, see you afterwards."
Loyd starts heading over here. I have my palm covering my face, I don't want to answer any questions.
No Comment.
After the intermission.
Loyd takes center stage with Shanon and Wilfred.
He talks with Shanon a bit.
Then Shanon starts walking over here to her seat.
He lifts the megaphone.
"For our first match of the after noon. Prince Wilfred will be facing off against..."
