Chapter 1 - Legendary Talent Ocean Master

[Welcome to the Continent of Heroes]

[You have been chosen by the God of Heroes to create your own legacy. Everyone will be given a trait, and a lucky few will receive talents! Good luck, and remember, only those who put in the work achieve greatness.]

[Would you like to be a Hero or a Lord?]

Robert's heart raced as he read the glowing blue panel. With bated breath, he examined the descriptions.

Hero: Will be spawned in a town, free to travel around the continent taking quests from lords, and able to form parties with other heroes. Cannot establish their own village.

Lord: Will be spawned in a random location, given the option to form your own village and create your dynasty. Cannot leave your territory for a period of time unless allowed by the system.

"Being a hero sounds thrilling, but what true power would I wield without a territory to command?" Robert pondered, his mind buzzing with possibilities. With determination in his eyes, he chose the lord option.

[You will now be spawned in a remote location. Best of luck to you, and please don't die too quickly, as that would be unfortunate.]

A blinding white light engulfed him, and his senses reeled. When he opened his eyes, he found himself standing on a desolate coast. The dark blue waters churned ominously, sending a chill down his spine. Suddenly, a voice echoed in his mind.

[You have received your talent: Legendary Ocean Master]

"This is the talent the god mentioned," Robert murmured, awe and trepidation in his voice. "I can't believe I awakened a legendary talent. It almost seems too perfect for my surroundings." A blue panel materialized before him, displaying vital information.

Name: Robert Williams

Occupation: Tier One Novice Lord

Talent: Ocean Master - Allows user to command sea creatures relative to their level

Trait: Underwater Breathing

Territory: Unbounded

[Would you like to open the newbie lord package?]

Robert eyed the panel, excitement bubbling within him. "This reminds me of those system novels I used to read." Without hesitation, he selected the option.

[Opening package: Village Spawn Token received; Summoning Altar received]

Robert quickly snapped to his senses. He was in an unfamiliar place, thrown into the wild to survive. He was astonished by the forest behind him and decided it was best to set his village near fresh water, as all he could see was the ocean.

As he approached the forest, he felt a gust of wind and heard noises all around him. He immediately put his guard up. "I need to find a good base quickly; it seems I'm not alone here."

Robert quickened his pace. As he walked, he saw a clearing, almost like a safe haven in this wild forest. "How do I use this village token?" [Village Token: Place on the ground to summon your base.] Robert pondered to himself, "This seems rather crude, but who am I to judge a god?" Placing the token on the ground, a small wooden hut appeared.

[Please name your village.]

"A name, I see. This is the beginning of my so-called legacy. But what shall I name it?" Robert gave thought to his talent, Ocean Master. "Ocerious," the word flowed out of his mouth as if predetermined.

"Oh, I almost forgot." Robert placed the summoning altar token on the ground. A large, two-and-a-half-meter altar made of blue marble appeared out of thin air.

[Would you like to summon troops?]

"Yes," Robert said in a monotone voice. In the next moment, a flash of white light appeared as six people walked out of the altar. They immediately shouted, "We are at your disposal, my grace," and knelt.

Bewildered by the action that had taken place in the last minute, Robert spoke in a commanding tone, "Stand. There is much work to do." He analyzed the group. All six of the summons were men. Five were bronze-tier one spear infantry, and the last man appeared different from the rest, with a sense of authority about him.

Robert approached him. "What is your name?" The soldier spoke, "My name is Sabas Hoper, my grace." Robert inspected him. He was a bronze-tier one officer trainee.

Name: Sabas Hoper

Job: Officer Trainee

Rank: Bronze Tier One

Ability Overview: As a child, he was seen as a prodigy of military arts. He joined the army as an officer trainee, was taught by a general, and is said to have the potential to command a whole army.

"Gather the men and scout ahead. Don't go too far, and if you see anything that looks like a threat, report back to me."

As he summoned the blue interface, he noticed his village was at the lowest rank.

Ocerious Village: Bronze-tier one, barely considered a village. Don't get too cocky; it's just a village hall.

Population: 6

Upgrade Requirements: 10 tier-one buildings and a population of at least 100.

Robert waited for Sabas to arrive with a report of the surrounding area. The most daunting task was securing food and water. What felt like an eternity later, Sabas and the troops came back. He knelt in front of his lord. "Rise, Sabas. Please don't kneel every time you see me." Sabas stood with a bit of shame.

"My lord, we traveled north of the clearing and saw a running stream of water." Robert grinned slightly. "That is great, just what we needed." Sabas continued, "My lord, we also saw green creatures about the size of human children drinking from the stream."

Robert thought to himself, "Sounds just like goblins. This isn't good. From what I remember, they reproduce at an outstanding rate." "How many did you see?" he asked, concern in his voice. "My lord, I only spotted about ten; they seemed to be stragglers." Robert sighed. "What are we waiting for? Lead the way. We must attack before they discover us."

Sabas gathered the men and started heading north of the village. Robert followed behind them, observing the change in scenery. The trees swayed in the wind. It felt like a marathon, but he smiled as he spotted the stream of water and noticed the childlike footprints.

"Follow the footprints," Robert commanded.

The sky darkened as the group continued to follow the footprints. A soldier noticed a campfire ahead and whispered, "Look there, the critters we were looking for." Robert and the group hid behind some nearby bushes. The goblins were about the size of ten-year-old children, their faces so ugly it was hard to describe.

"Their weapons look primitive. We spearmen should have no problem with these creatures," a soldier said.

"They seem to be eating," Robert noted. He looked at the spearmen and said, "Now is the best moment. Let me see what you guys are made of."
