(POV ???)
I look at the big, burly guy in front of me with boredom.
He's constantly talking about something called elective classes. I'm not really interested in what he's saying.
I take off my square-shaped glasses and put them on the table.
"Alright, kids, now we need to go to the main hall."
The muscular guy who was talking said this and left the classroom.
I got up and followed him.
...
It was crowded.
Almost all the students from our section were there...
As I was turning my head through the crowd, I noticed someone.
"Hmm... interesting."
I didn't expect to see him here. I thought he wouldn't show up at these gatherings.
One of the second-year students, Class A
I've been following him for a while... actually... I've been keeping an eye on him.
I look at the playing card in my hand and a faint smile spreads across my lips.
"A good soldier card."
"Attention students."
A voice came from all the speakers around, drawing everyone's attention to the platform at the front of the hall.
A man in a black suit, with slicked-back black hair and dark eyes, stood on the stage. He took the microphone to his mouth and started speaking loudly.
"Students, for any class you want to join, just go to the second-year student in charge of that class, and they'll introduce you to it."
He then put down the microphone and went behind the platform through the curtains.
"Choose a class... hmm?"
Out of all the classes, I think the spell and summoning classes are right for me.
But I don't have time to attend both. After all, I have more important things to take care of... much more important things.
But I'd rather join the spell class since my job is more about sealing than summoning. This class will definitely come in handy.
At least it can be somewhat useful for me...
I look around and spot a purple hologram with [Spell] written on it.
"There it is."
...
"That's all you need to know about this class."
A bunch of boring explanations...
In short, they introduce us to different kinds of spells here and teach us how to perform them.
"So boring..."
"So boring..."
I look at the black-haired boy sitting next to me... honestly, I was a bit surprised that he said the exact same thing as me.
From the way he was staring at me, I could tell that he was surprised too. His tired green sunken eyes sparkled strangely.
"Why are you staring at me?"
The boy said this in an unfriendly tone.
I didn't pay much attention to his tone and just shrugged. Then, I looked back at the second-year boy who was organizing the papers in his hands.
The boy didn't talk to me anymore and just stared straight ahead.
"Okay, now anyone who wants to register for this class should fill out one of these forms."
After he said this, the students went to him one by one, took a form from his hand, and left the classroom.
"I better go get the registration form too."
I got up and went towards the person holding the papers and took one of them.
I started filling out the form right there.
[Full Name: Tobias Miller
Initial Potential: 7
Element: Void
Class: B]
Okay, that's that...
I went back to the boy and handed him the paper.
I don't understand why in an academy where everything is electronic and advanced, class registrations have to be done with a piece of paper...
Well, it's none of my business.
"You have class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 PM."
The boy's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
Without saying anything, I just smiled, handed him the paper, and left the classroom.
"Ugh, I hate these fake smiles I have to give people..."
Of course... I didn't say this out loud.
I try to calm myself and head back to my dorm...
...
"Stop bothering, come to our dorm!"
"Hmm... hmm..."
I turn towards the direction the sound is coming from. This is the academy's backyard, and I wanted to catch my breath here before heading to my dorm, but... I came across this disgusting scene.
Three boys had cornered a girl against the wall. One of them had his hand over the girl's mouth, pinning her to the wall, while the other two were eyeing her body lustfully.
"Ugh... I'm no hero, so no one expects me to save that girl."
Then I looked seriously at those boys.
"But well... I'm going to be living in this academy for three years. Who knows, maybe their next target will be me."
Then I repeated to myself coquettishly,
"Well, I'm not a girl, but... I'm a really pretty and attractive boy... and well, even though I'm not used to meddling in other people's business... I have to do it this time."
Then I raised my hand, and a playing card appeared between my index and middle fingers... a spade soldier... one of my favorite cards.
I approached them and with a wide smile, I said in a friendly and lively tone,
"Umm... hello friends, may I disturb you for a moment?"
The boy who was covering the girl's mouth looked at me angrily and said,
"What? What did you say, wimp? Guys, I think he wants to bother us, deal with him."
Two boys came towards me, and one of them licked his lips and said,
"Even though he's a boy, he can still satisfy us."
"Heh..."
A smirk appeared on my lips involuntarily, and then I started laughing out loud.
"Ha... what's this jerk doing..."
But before he could finish his sentence, his head flew into the air.
"Wha... what happened?"
The other boy said this, terrified, looking at his friend's headless body.
With the same wide smile, I pointed to the black-haired man standing next to me and said,
"Allow me to introduce, this is my soldier card."
"Don't... don't come near me... aaaaahhh"
He tried to run away but failed.
And he was cut in half by my soldier's sword.
The boy who had pinned the girl to the wall was watching these scenes in horror.
"Hmm, no, you belong to me."
A playing card, the two of spades, appeared in my hand and immediately turned into a revolver.
The boy ran and tried to escape, but...
_Bang
He fell to the ground with a shot to his leg.
"Hmm... I don't remember saying you could run away."
I walked up to him and aimed the gun at his head.
And with tearful eyes, he said to me,
"Pl.. please... don't... kill me."
With a smile, I tilted my head. Pathetic, why should such vile and filthy creatures have a place in this world? And if someone were to cleanse their vile existence from this earth... well... why not me?
"Sorry..."
_Bang
Then I approached the girl who was sitting a few steps away, looking terrified.
With a kind smile, I bent down in front of her and reached out my hand.
"Well, it's all over... you can get up now."
I tried to take her hand, but she pushed my hand away with a scream,
"Don't touch me... you... you killed people... you're a monster..."
Hmm, herd mentality, or in simpler terms, the thought instilled in society. A thought that makes everyone born into a society adopt the things that the people there deem as right and wrong for their mind and life, without even thinking about what's truly right.
This makes society and that community turn into robot-making machines, and humans become robots whose thoughts and system programming are exactly alike.
For example, "murder". Murder is presented as something wrong in society, but... many people don't deserve to live.
Because their survival contaminates the rest of the society. But according to herd mentality, they also have the right to live.
But in the society I want to build, there's no need for people who have herd mentality and are also ungrateful.
A well-fed wolf doesn't eye the sheep...
Then I aimed my revolver at the girl's head and said,
"Goodbye..."
The girl stared into my eyes with disbelief and fear, hoping I'd regret it, but...
I pulled the trigger.
_Bang
