Symbiot
Adewale exhaled in relief, finally, the special cheats that usually come to the main character in the Isekai anime and Manga had finally revealed itself. He took a moment to look at the status window, and for a while, he had forgotten that his childhood friend was in mortal danger.
"Symbiot!" He voiced calmly, "Finally, a superpower I can call my own. So tell me will I be able to exceed my EVO-CAP of 1?" he inquired,
"Negative" Symbiot replied, "for symbiotic activities, the host must remain at evolution level 1"
"W.T.F!" Adewale exclaimed loudly, "So how am I supposed to get stronger?"
"Is something wrong Adewale?" Lakan asked genuinely worried,
"It is nothing", Adewale snapped, then he gave Lakan an apologetic look, "I'm sorry, give me some time. I believe I will soon come up with a plan." Then he walked into a deeper part of the cave and silently closed his eyes, preparing his mind to acknowledge his new skill; his knowledge of anime had taught him that even a useless skill could be used to achieve the greatest of feats.
"Symbiot" he called calmly, "I need a tutorial, teach me how to use my new strength"
"As you wish, Master Adewale", Symbiot replied, "To begin, the symbiot is an organism that cannot survive unless it is nourished by another, which means…"
"My power depends on my allies, I need to feed on them the same way a vampire feeds on others" Adewale concluded with a scowl,
"Don't insult me, master!" The Symbiot scolded, "I am a Symbiotic system; I need others to feed, and in exchange, I make them stronger. My power belongs to you master and their power" The Symbiot continued referring to the rest of the E-ranks "Is yours to boost"
"I see," Adewale said in both a defeated and excited tone; he thought it was just a new skill, but now he knew that what he had awoken was a system. A system! He could hardly contain his excitement. "Continue"
"To begin, I can only be unlocked with a minimum of five cells, but you have been able to gather seven; thus, bonus stats are added", Symbiot continued, "These are your stats at the beginning."
The status screen appeared in front of Adewale and he was able to see his status and strength. NAME; Adewale Alaramide RACE; Human EVO;1 STR;2 AGI;2. INT;8 DEX;2 Magic Aura;5. it was pathetic. Next to his stats, there were three skills: Dependable leadership LV2, Charismatic leadership and Master strategist. Underneath his skills was his unique ability
Symbiot LV1; STR;2 AGI;2 INT;2 DEX;2. Magic Aura.5"The more Symbiot levels up the stronger Master Adewale becomes." Adewale felt a sign of relief at the knowledge that his strength was not tied to the Evolution level. "Please select the main menu on the screen to see your options!"
Adewale clicked the main menu option on the home screen and found the sub-options, most of them were locked. 1. status, 2. skill storage, 3 cell and status, 4. shop. 5. experience storage, 6. equipment. He understood the Status window very well; that was the window where he had seen his pathetic stats and the stats of his skill, but he didn't understand the skill storage window, and it was pitiful that the skill storage was locked until his symbiotic skill had evolved to level ten. So he clicked on the third menu which happened to be the "cell and status window", the window opened and indicated 7 sub-menus, each sub-menu was the name of each member of his team and when he clicked on the name he was able to see their stats skills and Evo-cap but something caught his eye. A locked function that stated "Evo-cap Break".
"That is correct, Master Adewale; with the ability of Symbiot, you can remove the limitations on all the cells connected to you."
The possibility practically made his heart skip a beat; with his power, he could create an army of S-rank Ẹṣọs or even take over the Lagos shelter. Then, the excitement vanished as soon as it had arrived; the skill could only be activated once his Symbiot skill had evolved to ten. What he needs is an immediate solution to the present situation, he needs to enhance the power of his team. The Skill storage, shop and equipment menus were locked and those were the only options that brought any hope to his present predicament. "This is useless," he voiced; my hidden skill is unlocked, and I am still right where I started, "With nothing," he exclaimed bitterly.
"Are you sure about that?" Symbiot mocked.
"Yes, tell me how to power up my team when I am still at Evo-level 0 with my symbiot skill?" Adewale grumbled.
"You should take a look at Sub-menu number five, I'm pretty sure you will find something very interesting," Symbiot mocked. Adewale was about to complain but then held himself and followed Symbiot's instruction. To his amazement, he found something that he could hardly believe: sub-menu five was known as Experience storage; as he clicked on it, he found the same list as he had found on Sub-menu three, only this time his name was included and next to each name was a large number.
"What's this?" he inquired half knowing the answer.
"These are your stored experience points" Symbiot replied, "The points from the Reptile king crisis and the points from the few slain in the dark forest"
Adewale could hardly contain his excitement, his first thought was to evolve the rest of the E-ranks and ….
"Negative, all the E-ranks have already reached their cap," Symbiot scolded.
Adewale exhaled calmly, he realised that his excitement had led him to several errors. His new skill allows him to buff all his teammates, but he can achieve nothing if his skill remains at level 1.
"You are finally catching on, Master Adewale," Symbiot approved, "Evolve your skill, and yours truly will evolve your friends," Adewale smiled in response, but the happy moment didn't last for long, Attah's name began blinking in red and white light.
"You must hurry Master Adewale" Symbiot cried suddenly, "The blinking means that your friend's health is in a critical condition"
"Alright," Adewale cried realising that time was against him, "Use all my experience points to level up my Symbiot skills to the max, let us see all the abilities I can acquire and hope I reach level ten"
"As you wish, Master Adewale," Symbiot responded with a hint of excitement in its voice. "Adewale symbiot experience points sum total, all invested into the evolution of the skill"
Level 1, double boosting (already unlocked)
Level 2 Experience share, Evo-cap break +10, (All cells connected to the prime can reach evo-level 20)
Level 3, Double experience, (All cells connected to the prime will receive shared experience *2)
Level 4, Heal, Prime can heal critically wounded cells.
Level 5, Cannibalise (Host can now Consume Ẹbọra corpses to supply materials for the shop.)
Level 6, …. Evo-cap break +5 (Evolution-cap 25)
Level 7….. Evo-cap break +5 (Evolution-cap 30)
Level 8... The leader's inquisitive eye, (Appraisal)
Level 9.... (Full heal upon evolution for all cells connected to the prime)
Level 10 ...Congratulations, prime, the unique skill Symbiot's domain has been acquired. All exp points have been consumed, similar points have been added to the character stats, and 2 skill points per level up have been awarded to the prime, and an additional 3 skill points were awarded for acquiring 7 cells in place of 5.
The symbiote's domain is a skill that boosts the stats of all cells connected to the prime by 20% and cuts the stats of all enemies by 30%.
"This is awesome!" Adewale exclaimed as he took a look at the improvement of his stats, he was also glad that he was able to reach level 10.
"Don't get carried away Master Adewale," Symbiont Berated, "Attah is still in critical condition!"
"Huh! Right," Adewale exclaimed, "Quick remove the evo-cap on Attah and use the experience points to evolve him only once. The rest will be used to save him again should his life be in danger."
"As you wish, Master Adewale," Symbiot exclaimed; the next instant, Attah's name on the screen stopped blinking, symbolising that he had successfully evolved and the healing effect had worked. Adewale would have stayed there gloating on his new skill but there was a limit to how much experience points Attah had.
"Alright, people!" Adewale called out, with more confidence in his voice, "We're moving out"
"What!" Tunde protested, "If you haven't noticed, I am fatigued from extensive running. The cave we are using has more than a thousand spiders waiting for food, which happens to be us to walk onto their plate, and we have toys for weapons. Let us face it we are all dead E-ranks"
"Adewale" Lakan called, "As much as I hate to admit it Tunde is right, we need a plan,"
"Alright, I have awakened a new skill," Adewale pronounced, "The name of my skill is …"
"My head!" Kehinde Akinbode exclaimed; he had finally regained his consciousness after sleeping through the horrific ordeal. Adewale slammed his mouth shut and held his words. It would be dangerous if the trophy of the Akinbode family found out what his abilities are; he could not bring himself to trust the rich brat. "Where are we?" he asked as he began to regain his constitution.
"I still think we should leave him here to die," Ọsẹ grouched,
Adewale was silent for a while. He had to agree with his friend, but somewhere deep down, he knew that all their lives depended on whether Kehinde lived or died, "I agree as well; he should be left here to die," Symbiot whispered beneath his ear.
"He lives," Adewale pronounced, "And that's final" Then he walked over to the confused S-rank Evo-1 candidate. "We are going on a rescue mission and we need you in the centre so we can protect you"
"A rescue mission?" Kehinde blurted out what happened while he was out. He wondered, "I'm the one in charge here! It is my orders you obey."
Adewale chuckled at Kehinde's ignorance but understood that his arrogance came from the manner of his upbringing, so he tried a new approach. "If you let us protect you while we rescue our comrade then I promise you fifty percent of the loot"
"No," Kehinde voiced, his greed reflected in his eyes, "We save your useless friend. Everything acquired in the process is mine…"
"Deal" Adewale responded immediately,
"That not…" Lakan protested,
"Lakan," Adewale interrupted, "Please trust me,"
The angry tank wanted to argue with the greedy S-rank, but he held his peace; Adewale had not led them astray before, so he had no intention of doubting him now.
"Remember, everything belongs to me." Kehinde commanded, "The cores, the treasures and the spoils of battle"
"Yes," Adewale replied with a straight face, Kehinde rose to his feet and dusted himself. Then he looked at them all with disdain, focused on Lakan, and spoke; his next words almost made the short-tempered tank knock him out again.
"Fool, you will obey my orders now," he said,
"It seems you don't understand the terms of our agreement," Adewale voiced, "I'm the one in charge, I give the orders and you rip the rewards," Kehinde scowled in response but remained silent. "He is so impertinent," Symbiot growled, "Don't worry, I can handle him" Adewale whispered back.
Adewale gathered what was left of his possessions, including his weapons, and marched off to the entrance of the cave, "Alright, men, let go," he commanded, "they all rose to their feet in preparation for the onslaught." he voiced in his mind several orders to Symbiot. "Symbiot!"
"Yes Master Adewale," Symbiot replied,
"Evolve everyone here by two levels" He commanded, "we need their bodies to acclimate to the cap break."
Outside the cave, the Arachnoids waited patiently. The fresh meat that foolishly wandered beside their territory was cornered, the meat would need to come out sooner or later. The bolder that covered the entrance of the cave suddenly exploded behind the boosted fist of the formidable tank called Lakan, several arachnoids died beneath the rubble. The Ẹbọras were beside themselves with glee at the turn of events, thinking they had the upper hand; they joyfully charged towards the weaklings with the powerless tools they used to defend themselves. The queen would be pleased; recently, her hunger had increased, and the only thing that could stay her ever-building desire for a meal was human flesh.
"The symbiot's domain!" Adewale chanted, then he looked at his companions and barked out his orders "Fire at will"
The E-ranks instantly started shooting the spiders, hoping against hope that the ineffective weapons would deal damage. To their shock, the moment the plasma beams of light struck the arachnoids, they were set ablaze. Adewale smiled at the result. His hidden skill, "Master strategist," allowed him to reinforce the weapons with any element he could think of, including fire.
The result encouraged the E-ranks to press the attack, but what truly boosted their courage was what happened as soon as they were able to clear the immediate vicinity of the cave. A status screen appeared in front of each of the E-rankers, informing them of the two Evolution ranks they had gained; the shock on their faces was memorable. "I decided to give them the additional stats as a reward for clearing the immediate vicinity of the cave."
"Excellent," Adewale whispered back, then he came up with a new idea and took action before any of his teammates could say something that would reveal his skill to Kehinde Akinbode. "Lakan, take charge in the front!"
"Yes sir" Lakan replied,
"Ronke, stand by his side and form a shield dome to surround the entire party!"
"Yes sir," Ronke responded,
"Ọsẹ!" Adewale continued,
"Sir!" Ọsẹ replied,
"Reinforce the shield with your flames" Adewale ordered,
"Yes sir!" he responded,
"Seyi!" He barked,
"Sir!" Seyi replied,
"You stand at our backs," Adewale barked, "Use your crystal-powered weapon to kill anything that is not a pile of ashes."
"Yes sir," Seyi replied,
"Tunde!" Adewale called, "Keep an eye out for all unseen threats"
"Yes sir" Tunde responded,
"Kehinde and I will remain in the centre, and I will continue to bark out orders. Now let us claim our Attah back"
"YES, SIR!" they responded, and for a short moment, Kehinde was jealous of the loyalty that the E-ranks had for Adewale's leadership potential; it was something that many coveted and this nobody from nowhere possessed. There were many forced to obey his orders, but they were never loyal; they simply obeyed him because they were paid to. His hatred for Adewale deepened, but he could do nothing about it, his life was in Adewale's hands after all.
