Pushing the thought aside for now, Yves grabbed a small piece of parchment and began writing a letter. His handwriting was quick but precise, detailing a simple message. When he was done, he folded it neatly, sealing it before tying it to the leg of a pigeon he kept in a small cage near the window.
He opened the window, letting the cool air rush into the room as he released the bird into the sky. It flew off toward its destination—the manor where his child was staying. Yves watched it disappear into the darkness before closing the window.
After sending the message, Yves returned to the bed and settled into the chair beside it, his gaze fixed on Alterain. He would remain there, waiting for him to wake, hoping to finally get some answers.
But deep down, Yves knew this was far from over. Once Alterain wakes up, he is certain the knight commander will insist on keeping him by his side. Despite knowing this, Yves couldn't leave the unconscious knight alone.
